As far as a cuban restaurant close to the hotel there is:

1. Las Colinas Restaurant, 2724 N Andrews Ave, Wilton Manors, FL
(954) 390-7410

2. Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine, 7015 W Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33317
(954) 584-4400

However if you could drive to Miami then: Versailles Restaurant, 3555 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135 (305) 444-0240 or: La Carreta Restaurant, 3632 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135 (305) 444-7501

Good luck.
I find Las Vegas good, on the same level and closer to the hotel is:
Don Arturo Restaurant
1198 SW 27th Ave
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312
(just west of I-95 off Davie Blvd)

After a point on Friday, the beach in Fort Lauderdale will have limited access as the Air and Sea Show is that weekend.

After a point of Friday we should all be rocking out to CanJam!

If you really want to hit the beach on Saturday am or Sunday a short ride north to Pompano will avoid the beach congestion from the air and sea show. At night Tiki bars on the beacj can be great nothing like tipping back a few at a bar on the beach. I outta know it was almost the death of me

AFAIK, the Fort Lauderdale Airshow is canceled this year, you can check here or here. But if I’m wrong … Yes, Pompano Beach is very cool … there’s even a pier there. Closer by is Dania Beach, just south of port everglades (south on US1 to Dania Bch Blvd).

Sublime Restaurant and Bar – Natural and Organic Cuisine
I wouldn't mind trying that. I normally eat healthy.

I was told that there is a good burger joint in the shopping center next to the hotel called 5 Guys Famous Burgers and Fries. I haven't tried it but my brother in law says it's good. You guys in the Philly and D.C. area maybe aware of it as I think they have restaurants up there. It's probably no Le Tub but nothing is so that's not a fair comparison.

I reiterate...eat stone crab claws. Of course, bring lots of money for them.

There is a great bbq place about a 5 minute drive from the hotel called Tom Jenkins. Cigars are everywhere.

I'm up for a little food with my garlic. Authentic Cuban sounds good. As for Le Tub to embrace my inner redneck.

I don't really need to go to the beach. I prefer the Pacific.

I was hiking by the Pacific this past weekend. The hike was good, the Pacific, eh.

tyrion do you know of a place off of a1a somewhere in that general area...its in a mall on the second floor where they always have a set of bungee ropes with a trampoline in the courtyard. its right on the beach and they serve gourmet meals for the same price. as in, all lunch items are the same price. same with dinner. nice sit down place overlooking the beach. i went there for my friends graduation party and right now he is out of the country so i cant ask him =/ i cant think of the name for the life of me and its driving me nuts.

if anyone else remembers please let me know.

they have a short selection of dishes to choose from but at the price ($6-8) for "gourmet" meals i found the food fantastic.

bahamas breeze at sawgrass mall has excellent fresh sea food. i suggest their wood grilled salmon (my fav) in case anyone goes to sawgrass. they used to have the worlds greatest bbq place "miss smokeys" with the worlds greatest hot sauce but they closed shop =/

pizza rustica is a great place for pizza on the beach in miami (if anyone ventures that far south). hell if you are that far south just go to the keys and have some fun

I've been to 5 Guys in Charlottesville, VA and they are pretty damn good. The biggest draw, though, is their hand-cut fries which they make on the spot.
