Stock up on Shure black foams NOW... - Page 2

Thread Starter
I see that my original message has gone on a slight tangent...

My point was that if you use and like the black foams (in which case you have obviously already paid for them) then you may like to purchase another pack just incase other retailers increase their prices in line with the Shure increase.

There is not much point stating that even $15/5 pairs is expensive and that Shure is making lots of $$$ because at the end of the day, each pair will last you about 6 months which is about 5 months more than the other foams available on the market - which are roughly the same price - so the black foams are actually approx 500% better value for money, the increase to $20/5 pairs will reduce the above figure however, it is still BETTER value for money than any other foam on the market.

I hope this is clear...all I was trying to do is save the current users some money.

cheers!

Shure - Black Foam Sleeves for Earphones

It is still a good price however idealsound on ebay (same as discountheadphones.com) is still selling them for $14/5pairs so stock up while you can!!!
Thanks for the tip [!]. I just ordered some sleeves as backups at the $14 price as you recommended.

Hmm. I went ahead and ordered a packet. It should last me at least two years.

I'm seeing that Shure's Canadian site still has them going at 15 CAD for 5 pairs. But I'll still probably order from Idealsound, gotta love the free shipping.

So, even though $20/5 pairs is not too bad, its even better at $14/5 pairs at idealsound.
Thanks for the tip on iDealSound, 14 bucks for 5 pairs SHIPPED is a great price!

Does anyone know if it's possible to mod these so that they will fit the Shure E2cs? It looks like the diameter of the post is wider on the E2cs so I was wondering if it's possible to drill these out to fit?

I purchased my olive tips from idealsound off ebay for a pair of 2nd hand E500's, and this is the way to go. Alot better than any other tips, never tried the yellow foam. Heck by the time you expend a pack of these tips, the IEM market will have more choice. Westone 3 anyone???
Heh, I remember buying my UM2's two and a half years ago and the frustration of going through tip after tip with minimal satisfaction until Shure came out with the Black Olives. Man, a great seal, long lasting, the holy grail of Universal IEM tips,,,,,who could ask for more? Whatever Shure is asking, it's worth it...for me, of course. It's a terrible thing to feel ripped off though and if that's the case I'm behind you 1000%!

$20 for 5 sets of (very good) IEM tips isn't bad at all. Even if you go through one pair a month, that's still $4 a month. What it costs them to manufacture it shouldn't be similar to the price they sell it at, because there's a lot more cost to them than just the actual item.

Yes it is. But don't drill them out: simply stretch the olive's inner tube with needle-nose pliers until you can wrangle them onto the E2 post. I'll post the link for the modding olives thread.

Thread's about UE, but it works with E2c too.

So this thread is a few days old but I wanted to pass along that I was in the BWI airport this past week (Baltimore) and the Palm store had the Shure black foam tips for $9.99 (package of 10). After pulling out the inner plastic piece they fit my E2Cs great. Boy are these things much better than the orange ones!

I don't know if this is the price countrywide in the Palm stores, but it's worth checking out!
