Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Appreciation Thread - Page 401

I've seen where the whole plastic blue piece of the nozzle breaks off the metal body..don't know how common this is, but it always made me kind of paranoid when my TF10 was a universal..

like this old post I made

http://www.head-fi.org/t/309321/ultimate-ears-triple-fi-10-appreciation-thread/4140#post_7783495

it happened while I was removing a comply tip. later I fixed it with epoxy and it is working fine still.

Edit: And yup they are. Comfort is just a tad short of normal foams but still quite good. The extra isolation is much appreciated when biking or exercising...Well, with the exception of safety. 30dB of noise isolation outside isn't too safe lol. Pics. Resized to save some space.

Thanks for this. I just used this on my GR07 with amazing results.

Okay, I don't think I am made for in ear headphones with amped sources. These things are running into distortion again just like my etymotics only sooner. Much sooner. I don't trust these things anymore. Either I am not careful enough with them, they are almost always handled with care, or these things are just not meant for loud music.

I too have the support willing to offer refund or wait until April. I think at this point I am getting out of the cheap in ear crap. I need to find some open air phones or bust because I love loud music and these things will break me at some point. I have steadily been replacing these kind of earphones for quite some time and usually on the company dime but also mine.

IDK. They were awesome when they worked. I am not sure what to think. They said April but does anybody believe that?

And do you guys think I should just invest in some decent grado's/ etc. or something that can handle an amp and power because I really am starting to doubt these phones or any like them were made for amps.

I use my TF10s amped all the time(pretty much exclusively) and have never heard distortion at any volume. *shrugs*

...second that, not distortion at all, neither with rockboxed 5.5G nor with the E17..

btw, did any one try the foams coming with the BrainWvz Beta's? they are shorter and slimmer than the TF10's..

and yes they fit nice (got the betas for free, as a bundle with the E17)

Why are you guys using this with an amp? These are way to efficient to need any. All an amp will do in this case is add colouration or possibly distortion.

My J3 does just fine, so did my Clip Zip. I dont even need to use full volume. If i wanted I am pretty sure I could get an amp and over drive them. Hell I can just plug them into my Logitech computer speakers and probably blow them.

I just don't understand why heaps of people think that throwing an amp onto anything will automatically and magically 'enhance' the sound. Iems (with the exception of a very very very few) will be amped adequately out of a dap. The key here is to look for a quality source.

Dont worry, plenty of us feel you dont need an amp for the TF10. I am using Headphone BBE 2 EQ setting for my J3 right now with my S4's. Once I get my customs back, then I will decide if I like them better using the EQ or not. I like how the setting brings the sound forward and more pronounced.

just to make it clear, Im not using 5.5G+E17+TF10 all the time (you don't really need that soundwise and also the bundle starts to depart from what you call portable), I tried to state that there is no distortion with or without the amp..

(E17 mainly acts as a dac for the flacs in my laptop, via USB)

I use an amp when I want to bypass the amp inside my player, so my sound signals are better treated -> better sound?

Also lower noise floor and the fact that armature IEMs can be difficult to power even though they are sensitive due to the crossovers.

It's a bit presumptuous of you to assume that just because someone is amping them that they think it will "magically enhance the sound."rolleyes.gif I listen to them at work out of a DAC/amp combo, so they're just always amped.

Well what are your observations regarding amping them? I'm sure your comment wasn't aimed at me through right? Generally I find amping to bring some benefits but with certain IEMs its less noticeable and not necessary as said.
