Oriel, I definitely appreciate your input and on face value I would agree with what you say. If comparing a PA2V2 to a Gilmore Lite for example, sure, the Gilmore Lite is going to win hands down.

While I know the PR II is not the be all and end all of amps, like you say it dwarfs other portable amps. I just wonder where the best portable amps end and the lowest level home amps begin. There has to be an overlap.

I agree with you completely and would generalize by saying that many home amps (tube and op-amp) sound on par or worse than your PRII. Due to my 'bias' and 'interests', I won't say which in public. Feel free to PM me for more specific details...
