Minibox-E Repairs

Thread Starter
I was hoping that someone might be able to help me out with an issue that I'm having with a Minibox-E. It appears that during shipping, the post office did not take due care with it, and this has led to the unfortunate occurrence that has befallen it. The power switch has broken off and can no longer be used. The second switch on the front was damaged, but is still long enough to be toggled.

I'm not a DIYer by nature, but I was wondering if this is something that can be fixed easily, or if not, if someone experience in these things might be willing to discuss an arrangement for it's repair.

The dealer was kind enough to agree to repair it, but unfortunately, the shipping when compared with the price of the amp makes it unfeasible to ship it back to China for said repairs. Thank you for considering my issue.

Just stumbled across your post.

I am afraid that these switches on the MiniBox-E are a bit of a liability and are probably a design issue that needs to be resolved. MiniBox should be aware of this problem and therefore should have made sure that the packaging was adequate. IMHO this is their problem and they should pick up the tab for shipping, don‘t they have adequate insurance as well?

I had the bass boost switch break off and found it impossible to repair. While remarkably tiny and actually of Japanese origin, they do seem to be of rather marginal design as the plastic lever (as in most switches of this type - though it's usually made of metal) contains a minute spring and plunger. It only takes a slight knock to do serious damage. It seems obvious to me that MiniBox should make (and supply to all its existing customers) some sort of protecting ’ears’ that can be screwed on to each side of the case using the existing socket head screws. Then if the amp was dropped it wouldn’t risk destroying what are some very vulnerable switches.

As I don’t use the bass boost function I was able to remove the remains of the switch and hard wire link the PCB pads. Sadly not an option with the on off switch!
