Cowon, because they never need any special apps, always have among the most features, always play the most formats, always deliver good battery life, and so on.

iRiver. Nobody created such killers like iHP-120, ifp-700/800 series or iRiver E10. The last one is a really amazing toy. Sounds great with full, clean ogg support, good radio perception, SRS WOW, voice and radio recording, easy button navigation... funky price on ebay...

Also, audiophilia doesn't matter much when I'm on the go or in the car. That the iPod isn't sonically perfect doesn't matter much. When I want to do serious, critical listening, there is the home rig. When I'm driving, in an airplane or out for a walk, I don't notice much the imperfect fidelity. When I'm at home, I'll light up the tubes, spin some vinyl and really dig into the music.
Agreed. I know its not the most popular thing on this site to stick with the standard issue ol' iPod, but iPod to me is a no-brainer. Im so used to operating one I dont even wanna try to get to learn the interface of other players.

I'm really liking my new Zune 80. Shoot, it has more storage than my laptop! The sound on the Zune 2 models is pretty good. I also listen to Sansa Clip & Toshiba T400. Both SQ leaders & I think the Zune 80 is right up there & man I am having fun just trying to fill it up. Too bad it's a closed platform & so married to the Zune software, but so far I am adjusting OK. See my post about AC chargers for some good info.
Cheers

i begun as a fan of md and was a hardened sharp auvi lover but then i found that their lack of computer support was hard to get by. sony players were my next haven and i had the latest at the time sony mzrh10 hi md. then, still hating apple, i went for cowon, meizu, archos and had a fling with iriver.

in the end, hating the apple sound, i went for an ipod and found that i preferred its sound to the others and the fact that it was easy to use. the meizu was not bad but the sony, cowon models were terribly supported if you did not have windows to run jetaudio or monkeys or sonicstage.

yeah, i moved to the white side - apple

Apple... The have a history of innovation and due to their market share I can always find a wide selection of accessories.

Apple. They many not have a very good GUI or settings, but they drove the market, iPods with rockbox are great, not to mention my iPod mini was easily hacked into a flash player.

Apple is my favorite. Gapless, album art, lyrics support, good sq, 5 star rating system and an easy to use music management program. The qualities make Apple a no brainier for me.
