Saturday Night Concert Announcement - Page 9

long story made short ive lost my only ride to can jam. only other option is to take the local bus which would take me 2 hours to cover the 18 mile distance (stupid long winding routes) between my house and the embassy suites. with the 4 hours spent in transit i will only be able to spend roughly 2 hours at can jam as i would need to catch the bus back to make it home in time as well and since the schedule for the weekend is all screwed up and the last bus is at 6pm, im not even sure if ill be able to stay for the 2 hours im fantasizing about right now. as much as i would love to meet all the people and try out the gear, getting knocked around in local buses for 4 hours and taking 6 buses just to spend two hours at can jam doesnt seem awfully practical to me since i know i will want to spend more time there. having said that making it to the concert and staying there would be rather impossible. herein lies another question/problem.

if anyone wants to take my seat, as long as it is ok with mike, and has yet to pay for the ticket, they can just send me the money and take my seat. if this would be frowned upon then ill just leave it be as is. just pull in some homeless guy in for the concert. im sure he will thank everyone and have a good meal instead of me. if i can somehow miraculously find a ride to and more importantly from the event ill just buy another ticket.

are there any other events in the near future for fort lauderdale or south florida in general? if not, i dont know if my student subscription can be given to someone else but since i doubt i will be able to go, if anyone wants to go under my subscription you are welcome to do so (again as long as it sits well with the organizers). i hate to see money go to waste, and i dont particularly care if someone "buys" it from me but it would go a long ways for a poor college student like myself (had to sell my only headphones to pay for the concert and now i cant even go...aint that something). either way, if there arent any such events in the next 3-4 months id rather someone else go instead of no one going at all.

/end rant.

in case i dont make it...hope you all have a wonderful time.

Such doom and gloom Crappy! If you are truly 18 miles from the event I cannot see how there is nobody going by your area who could pick you up. Post some details and see if there is a way to do this. Agile_One and I have extra room in the form of fold-out beds so you can stay over Friday and Saturday if that will help, and I am sure Tyrion will pipe up when he sees you are falling by the wayside. Cheer up, there is a solution!

Crappy, where do you live? I have a fuzzy memory of Margate or am I making that up entirely? You've given up after one ride fell through? Take Voltron's advice. Even with the absolute worse case scenario, if you do live west, you should be able to get a few more miles east, and one of us can zip out and pick you up no problem, even if in the middle of taking care of other things. Friday would obviously be easier than Saturday.

when i told that headfiers were nice people i didnt know they were this nice! voltron thank you very much for offering the extra space in your room but im guessing the it would end up costing me the same amount as a taxi ride to and from home to embassy suites if i were to split the cost of the room with you. on the other hand if that was not what you were thinking, i cannot in good conscience shack up for lack of a better term without sharing the cost of the room. i do however thank you if that is what you were suggesting. if something does develop which enables me to do the aforementioned you shall be the first to know. thank you again.

boom, you are close enough i live in tamarac right by the tamarac sports complex. the exact address is,

9901 NW 77th St
Tamarac, FL 33321

if anyone nearby is going please let me know. i shall be grateful for eternity. as far as staying overnight is concerned i face the same financial fix as mentioned above. and if someone were to pick me up on fri/sat/sun, i would still face an annoying problem of getting home, as much as i wouldnt want to i am not trying to be a pessimist but a pragmatist. i would love to come to can jam but without the proper arrangements i would only be stuck there and be an imposition on other people.

im usually good with my money management but this time of the year is just not as pretty for my wallet. my mum's and sister's birthday is coming up in 2 weeks and my dad's bday is next month along with my parents marriage anniversary and my sisters graduation. not to mention the textbooks i had to get for my summer classes have dinged me almost a thousand greenbacks (yes 4 books CAN be THAT expensive). so basically it has just been a financial drain for me.

any other time of the year, i wouldnt even think twice about just taking a cab to and from can jam but right now its just not practical.

oh and its not the first ride that fell through boom first i was going to have the car and i could have come anytime. then my mom said she needed the car during those days so my dad said i could take his. and then i found out he had to go out of town with his car so then it came down to my mom dropping me off and picking me up and now she says she wont have time with my sisters prom/senior awards night/ap exams and other stuff. so i havent given up after one ride fell through. things just dont look as promising now but i havent given up hope! i will keep looking for ways to get there. if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. adios

Let us see if we can come up with something. Is there anyway you can a ride in one direction, preferably back home?
the ride to can jam is not a problem - i can take the bus in the worst case. but it is the ride back that is problematic since there are no buses that run around the time the concert will be done. im still thinking of a way around this bump in my plans.

im trying to see if my neighbor wants to go to the concert. he hates that kinda music so i dont know how convincing i have been so far but maybe he comes around. who knows. if anything, will do one of the following things,

a. get a ride to and from canjam with someone who lives close by.
b. designate the 4 day period as my summer holiday and share the room (and the cost obviously) with voltron or agile_one (who should i pick guys? )
c. rob a bank in which case ill be able to buy a car and then drive around on my own.
d. just steal a car instead...
e. _____________________ (lets play fill in the blank )

i dont want anyone to pick me up or drop me back even as a favor if they are going out of their way. it would be a terrible imposition and i cant really think of a way to pay the person back. with my neighbor i can just walk his dog or something for a month.

Rent a car from enterprise for $20
You're being silly on the cost issue Crappy. We have the rooms already and you are not the first person we have offered to put up, either! The rooms each have two beds plus a foldout bed. The 4 beds are called for, but that leaves two perfectly good spots to sleep on both Friday and Saturday nights. You are welcome to one of them, and there is no way we are taking any money for a college kid trying to get a serious headphone/head-fi/canjam fix. End of story! We did the same for polvodediamante last SoFla meet (although he has a job and may have kicked in some cash) but we made a new friend and he got to experience the meet madness in a whole different way!

I don't know where the heck Tamarac is but just get yourself to the meet on Friday or Saturday and I am sure we can get you back or stick you back on the but on Sunday when you will be dreaming about all that gear goodness and blues music and all that.

Cheers.

did i mention my parents took my license away when i took my personally built 77 trans am for its first ride on i-95 and got caught doing 147mph? i think i forgot that. the 5 years i spent working on that car + the heat i got later on = totally worth those 15 seconds i was doing 140+ in my baby. id do it again if i had the chance. oh and the fhp guy only gave me a 60 dollar speeding ticket...seemed kinda odd but he was wigging out when i told him about the car. apparently he also had one when he was younger.

voltron thank you for your magnanimity but the question does not arise. either i pay my fair share or well i do other things i havent thought about yet.

OK, your fair share is $20 for up to 2 nights! You'll probably get chronic back pain from the fold-out, so you can add that to the cost as well.

I don't know, he seems like the modest type. Think the hotel can provide a cot with a spring popping out? That might put the offer into reasonable territory. The "mystery brown spot" might be a bit much.

The Florida contingent is made up of the some of the most generous people I have ever had the chance to share my life with.
If I were crappyjones, I wouldn't want to piss them off. Better take them up on their offer, dude. They will hunt you down (between Microbrewery stops ).

doesnt look like ill be able to attend can jam at all . wasnt given a reason but was just told "no" by higher authorities. and over the years ive learnt that revolting only gets me into a bigger, deeper, and wider bowl of crap so i guess ill just skip this one and hope theres one sometime soon.
