Paypal policy change due to fraude!

Recently I have been subject to a lot of fraudulent payments through paypal.

Paypal is little help here. Although you can prove it is fraude they simpley book the money back blaming the CC companies. The shipped goods are lost.

I have now changed policies to prevent as much as possible fraude buyers.

Qables will no longer accept orders were the addresses provided do not match!
Residential, Payment and Ship To must all match.
Payer status must be: Verified
Adres status must be: Confirmed

Sorry to hear of the fraud, Hans. Unfortunately, despite improvements over time, the Net is still a bit of a 'wild' place where the unscrupulous seem to take advantage when they can.

I hope your new policy nips this problem in the bud and restores your faith in your purchasers.

BTW, my compliments on a wide range of well received products.

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words. I have not lost faith in the true headfier. Dont worry.

It is probably because I am selling more expensive product now (iQube 500US) that such people are getting interested in the webshop.

You can never close out 100% but the obvious cases are handled from now on.

This really hurts people like me.. I have a joint account with my mother, her address is different from mine.. & I don't like having my items shipped there. 1. Sh&tty neighborhood.. Had kids dump trash in the back of my truck before.. 2.. Don't like the long drive.. I do understand your reasoning, But it should be based on each transaction.. Persons feedback..Sailing/buying positive to negative ratio, etc..

Indeed we can solve single cases. naturally when there is a forum memebr and he has feedback i will not have a problem deviating from this rule.

But if there is no feedback of forum membership..... I am sorry.

In your case, NO PROBLEM!.

Sucks bad. I am going through this right now. I send the package to the buyer, he left positive feedback (eBay transaction), then a month later he places a claim saying that he did not authorize the payment and placed a charge back.

And there is little you can do

I had a case with UPS full traceable and expressed shipping. Signed for receipt with clear name and details. So I could prove I had delivered the goods and they were received at his address. I followed all the rules paypal say.

No luck they charged back and paypal wash their hands in innocence saying they can't do anything about it. Money gone, goods gone.

Sometimes paypal sucks. These are a few of those cases.

Alas. good luck to your case, Hans.

TRy to complain the theft to Internet Fraud Complaint Center and try to e-mail authorities near the fraudulent buyer.
The web site is here:

not just paypal, even cc.

even if you have all the information, they prevail

Paypal do NOT confirm addresses outside of the States,so it could be a problem for people from other countries.
This is what will be on the receipt that they send you.
Shipping address - unconfirmed

I don't understand how do you lose the money after you have been paid ... paypal just takes the money from your account without your permission?

Yes they can. I sold a fully working camera to someone. He received it, used it for ten days - and then claimed the lens didn't retract unless he took out the battery first. Paypal took the money out of my bank account despite the fact I have never ever had a single problem in 7 years - they just took the buyer's word it was broken, and refunded him. I would have to be pretty dumb to deliberately sell a broken camera, but still.... Paypal knows best........ not!!
