Hello, this is a question for you Kansas City folks. I'm going to fly up there early tomorrow morning for the Big 12 Basketball Tournament, and I'm going to have a lot of extra time on my hands, so I was wondering if there were any places I need to check out. Thanks for the help guys!

You must go to Primus Audio Pleasure, but call first: 816-421-3655 *

Second tier:

Audioport, Ltd. 913-341-2222 7329 West 97th Street [closed Monday]

Accent Sound 913-681-7884 6750 West 135th Street [closed Monday]

Audio Mart 913-648-1333 10330 State Line Road [may be closed Monday]

Sound FX 816-753-7799 4451 Belleview [may be closed Monday]

just a crazy tip:

Buzzz's Hi Fi 816-474-4420 1225 West 8th [it will be likely hard to find]

*oh, yeah, may be closed Monday, sorry Dude!

This may or may not help...

yup....that's about all of them.

I like Sound FX. Good group of guys. Small shop, Grado only (at least it was last time I visited.)

and.....can I buy your tickets from you when TX loses?

Thanks!

Bill, the recent meet was the best ever - you should have been there!

How is the Thorens doing?
Hey hey.....I"m sorry I missed it. I planned on going, but I had other plans. Girls trump meetups right now.

The Thorens got a good working over from Audioport (quality work may I add) and I"m currently running it through a nice vintage Harmon Kardon two thirty into a pair of Missions. Oh oh, I paired it with a very nice Grado cartridge.

Current Playlist includes much Elvis gospel, Allman Brothers, Elliot Smith, Hank Sr., etc.....whatever i can get my hands on I guess.

It's been well taken care of. I just oiled it down last weekend. It's shiny.

Vinyl is fun....thanks to you!

I'm glad to hear that. What did they do exactly? Tweaks? Rebuilds? Repairs?

I've heard good things about that model of HK, BTW.
Recalibrations only. Nothing is physically wrong with any part of it. THe new cartridge needed to be dialed in and whatnot.

That HK is fantastic. I got it off Craigslist from a Head-Fi member. He was selling it cheap and I jumped at the chance. He had it rebuilt by some guy in Blue Springs? I think the guy's name is Glenn McDonald. I can stand for his work. This Receiver is like brand new and probably sounds better than new.

Anyway, we will have to get together for a meetup soon. Why don't we do a tour of the Martin Logan Factory in Lawrence?

Thank you so much for the reccomendations! I am in the Mariott Hotel on 12th Street so Primus Audio Pleasure is just a short walk away. I am looking to stop by later today. Thanks again!

and no, I am not selling my tickets!!!

I don't think they are close to selling out though, you shouldn't have any trouble picking some up! Good Luck!

Oh, I'm just trying to help out a fellow Head-Fi'er after TX LOSES! and then I'll get to see the Jayhawks wipe the floor at fire sale prices.

and from what I've heard.....tickets are pretty steep this year.

I went to this great record store when I was there a few years ago. I can't remember the name, but I got Starflyer 59 - Everybody Makes Mistakes on vinyl for $5 (even then it was going for $30 on the bay). It was down by the new (well it was new then) big mall.

New...big...mall? I can't even guess - we have way too many malls in this town. Two major malls near here are more than half empty, and the damn things keep going up. I don't know what I hate most, malls, or beige neighborhoods...

I was there in the winter and there was iceskating at this shopping center. It had really high-end stores. I am trying to give better clues. But the record store was about 1 mile away in a less-than-ideal part of town.

OK, I'm guessing Crown Center and the Music Exchange. Did the mall have an entrance with HUGE glass panels and a view of downtown?

Crown Center is still well, still expensive.

The Music Exchange is gone...a sad, sad story.

It was Music Exchange. What happened?
