Singing with headphones on

Do you sing when you have your headphones on?

I know I do when i'm listening to something that i'm really getting into. It's so frustrating for people around as I (attempt to) sing like i'm in pain or something.

Sometime I hardly notice that i'm doing it

Is this a good pointer for searching out the boogie factor with headphones?

When you catch yourself singing with the headphones on, immediately lift them away from your ears a couple of inches.
You'll expand the soundstage to include your own voice, and it probably won't be a good thing.
But, at least, you'll hear what you sound like to everyone else unaccompanied by music.

I sing whereever whenever actually. I just love singing to no end. Sometimes I walk around wearing headphones and no source just to blend in a little bit better when I'm singing.

Anyone besides me relate? (somehow I doubt it)

i enjoy singing... just not with etys on. When you sing w/etys, your head just starts vibrating violently (if you're listening/singing to opera, ).

singing with phones on is the most annoying thing to people around you! I was sitting doing my work listening to some choons, and was getting these funny looks from everyone in the room, stopped and asked what was wrong and they said I'd been making "strange noises"! The cheek! But seriously though, you'll sound like Pavarotti to yourself, but its ALWAYS out of pitch with headphones!

Only when I'm home alone and the windows are closed. And then I'm stiil afraid the neighbors will hear me.

My singing sounds awful. With headphones on it must even be worse.

i only sing when i'm wearing open cans, so i can hear myself. my voice isn't half-bad, or so i've been told.

singing relieves stress for me in a big way.

i think we've hit upon one of the advantages of headphone listening:

the degree of isolation, closure from the outside world they provide.

and thus, the fantasy that it allows...the fantasy that I am the best damn solo singer...

at least between these drivers anyway...

Sometimes, when I can't sleep and it's really quiet I can hear a disturbing sound comming from the west, like it's been traveling all over the North Sea.

Glad to finally know what it is.

About 7-8 years ago I think, I was browsing through a magazine (Japanese), and among the adverts for hair rejuvinating brushes I saw a karaoke walkman. I think this would have been right up your street. It came with a headset instead of headphones so you could sing along to backing tracks. Curiously your own performance wouldn't be recorded. The whole point of the headset seemed to be to capture your voice, insert it in the mix and apply FX to it...

Hehehehe You know its funny. I live about 10 miles form the North Sea and my old man threatened to throw my Punk CD's IN THE NORTH SEA if ever play them within 100 yards of him

I've been swimming in the North Sea once or twice and it's just plain nasty.
