NIB k501 at a decent price

I hope this is not against the policy, as I'm not selling anything or affiliated in any way with the sites in question.

I spent some time today looking for used k501s after missing a used pair last night on ebay, then I thought that maybe there were a few shops still having some in stock. A quick Google search, and I found two large dealers in Italy (that's where I live) who are still selling k501s, new and with a regular EU warranty. I just ordered one pair from the cheapest one, if anybody is interested I will let you know when it arrives, and post some pics.

If you are looking for k501s, here are the URLs:

* the cheapest ones, 95.22 euro including VAT (shipping to Italy is 10 eu, no idea about elsewhere), they still have 4 in stock

* a bit more expensive, at 115 euro including VAT, I called them and they still have 11 in stock, unfortunately the site is a bit messy and you have to call them to order;

Both seem like reputable enough dealers, but I don't guarantee anything of course, not having dealt with them before.

FYI, I just paid $182.50 USD/shipped ConUS for my "NOS" K501. It seems they are getting rare, and a price of $180-$200 USD is not uncommon at the present time for the K501 stateside.

BTW, I'm glad I broke down and bought a pair. These headphones are "killer" for vocals, acoustic jazz, folk, etc. : )

Well, for once we europeans are getting nice prices without monster shipping costs and taxes.

I forgot to add that the first (cheaper) dealer accepts paypal payments with an extra 4% (about 4 euros more), so it should be a relatively safe buy.

FYI, I paid $149.95 (BIN price) for the K501 on eBay, then got whacked $32.55 for shipping/handling. caveat emptor

Reminds me of the close-out on the DT880 Pro (2003) from B&H Photo: $159/shipped a year or so ago. That was a great deal, too! (And I miss the DT880/2003!)

The K501 get progressively more enjoyable as the days--and breaking-in--advance. : )

You should be. They're made in Austria after all. I got a used pair in near-mint condition for $115 on the FS forums. It was a good deal then, sounds like it's a steal these days.

I got my first pair for around $100 in spring 2006. Even at a slightly higher price, it's still a good deal. I wish I could go back in time to when I heard my first AKG... I bought it on impulse because it was so cheap and looked interesting.
