Need Noise Reduction Headphones

Thread Starter
I was going to go out and buy some Bose QC2s today but thank god i stumbled across this site. From what I understand Bose is pretty much ****. Then I was going to go for a set of Grado SR 125, but I need the noise reduction. I am on a bus for road trips a lot because I play college baseball and need something to drown out the ambient noise. I really have not clue what to get. I think Beyer and Sennheiser are pretty good companies from what I've read thus far. I have spent a pretty good amount of time reading today, but figured I'd just ask. What is the best set of noise reduction headphones I can get in the $200-300. If I can get a really quality set for cheaper I'd be game for that, but I am willing to spend the $300. I am totally new to this and I thought Bose made a good product, so I cannot wait to hear what a good company makes.
Also, mainly I listen to folk like Bob Dylan and Nick Drake, or classic rock like Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and the Who. I've noticed in some other threads that that makes a difference sometimes.
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

There is comparison of different noise-canceling headphones just on this page - I also recommend that you use search function to find reviews on ANC7 - I preferred them over bose quite a bit - and they can be had for 100$ or so.

You could use any IEM and get better isolation than anything out there (active noise cancellation cans included). You could also pick up a set of very nice closed cans for that price (AKG K271S, Sennheiser HD 25-1-II, Beyerdynamic DT770, etc) and end up with a much higher quality of headphone than the Bose. Depending on what source you're using you may want to split your budget and get an amp as well. This will let you use higher impedance cans (like the Beyerdynamics above) and will make the sound very clear.
