The Stupidly Ridiculous Cable-of-the-year award goes to....

...Virtual Dynamics for their concept line product called the "Judge". It weighs 16 lbs., uses 4 gauge wire, has 4 BAMs (Big Ass Magnets) and two brass clamps per lead. It is a balanced digital AES/EBU cable. Because it is a concept product, it is not for sale.... yet.

I'm sure this thing sounds absolutely incredible. However I'd be a little afraid that it's weight would launch my components into low Earth orbit. Imagine if someone swung that at you??

Has anyone had a chance to listen to one of these yet, or even their flagship Genesis line (aside from the VD staff)?

lol - it's simply not big enough

AES/EBU/ W-O-W!

But does it measure 110 ohms plus or minus .00003% (repeating)

...more importantly, who is that girl in your avatar box and when do you let her out?

I'm the luckiest S.O.B. in the world. She's as intelligent, wise and loving as she is beautiful. And....she refuses to listen to crappy sounding music. She loves my hobby and wants to learn all about it.

Well, they could always start a loaner program with this thing and we could test it and find out.

Cherish this lady, and be grateful ! But also realize that getting a significant other involved in this hobby of ours can make it significantly more expensive in a hurry. I speak from recent expirience....

If we're going to start a loaner program... oh, never mind, you saw her first.

HA!!! That made me crack up! Too funny, man!
Nope, I refuse to share, even with my fellow Head-Fiers.

New caption for avatar, apparently:
"Thread de-railer"

Ya, man! You keep her. Keep her close but not too close. You know? Let her be who she wants to be. Don't suffocate her with attention, but make sure she knows you da man and she can count on you!

Does she have any sisters? Or maybe grand aunts?

Yeah, I take no responsibility for that part. I don't think she needs her own system yet; she can use mine. But I guess that would only last so long. Hey what a great excuse to buy new equipment: "Hey honey, you can have my stuff. I'll just get something else."

...well she is breath taking(Seinfeld reference...never mind)

I'm thinking that your other avatar was her also (horizontal head shot??).

I've tried to get my wife interested in high quality audio listening but there's no interest...more for me,HA!

It is important that, as everyhting in life, you can not miss the focus of what a common sense and the logic indicates behind any product design. Despite the sound quality, any audio gear should be practical, nobody will make an amplifier the size fo an apt, or a heapdhone that weights a 10 lbs, and I bet they will sound very good, but who is gonna use it.
This simple point, and regardless of the sound quality, make those cables completelly unpractical, and very prone, in case you can find a way to use them, to disconnection, unless locking, in which case, they will destroy the poor jack, as the stiffness will be simply ridiculous...

Cables are going the insanity route...IMO....
