Grado Kinking - Removing the Y-Split Cover

Just seeing if anyone has removed the stock cover on his Grado's cable. The kinking is highly annoying and I'd rather not have to worry about it in the future.

It looks as if it is simply glued together - I may try and use the trusty hair dryer to loosen it up and pry it apart. From there, I'll probably clean up the split and heatshrink it. Sound good to anyone?

i have the disassembled cable from my rs1 lying around...i've thought about using it to recable something else but also want to remove the y-split. anyone know the easiest/best way to do this?

I just removed mine today. It's not just glued on...looks more substantial. Anyway, I cut mine open. Just remember to cut a little above the midline so you don't cut the wires.

I am curious as to how your cable looks now.. would you be able to post a photo of your headphones now please ? was it a worthy task to do ? The kinking cable is driving me a little crazy too..

Thanks
