Anyway, I just wanted to say that the classic DT990's I have are really old, pre-2003 and probably pre-1990. I think they are a late 1980's model, although I am not entirely sure. They are definitely more than 15 years old though. They've got the old styling and only slightly resemble the 2003 model (just the grills really). From what I have read, these cans do not have a sibilance problem and also do not have the recessed mids the later models (esp. 2003) seem to have. Never heard them though.
oh, i have no experience with that model. dt990 with no recessed midrange and no sibilance sounds like an amazing find. if what you say is true, then they should have just kept it like that, because right now i'm having to eq them to make them sound like your version.

EDIT: oh i also just noticed you have the 600ohm version which further improves on the 250/30 ohm versions in terms of sibilance.
