I'm using a mac with OSX and the latest version of itunes. Am I able to have the USB as an output with this setup? Can someone help? I'm new at using my laptop as a high quality source and am confused...

Thanks!

Yes, you must use a USB cable running from your MacBook to your DAC. It is also important to make sure that you select the USB audio output from the "Sound" preference pane. Which DAC are you using?

Thanks for the reply. I understand that I need to be using the USB cable. I have a Pico on the way. Will I just be able to plug in a USB, connect the Pico, and select the USB out as the audio port? I don't see where to do this in the Itunes sound preferences under playback. Does it only appear when I plug in a DAC?

Sound Quality wise, is this the best way to do it? I have a macbook running osx.

Thanks again...

Use the Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities

Thanks Chris... It says that output is not supported in the Audio Output section. Advice?

Sorry. I should have been more specific. The setting is located in the system preferences.

That's my Predator in the devices list.

Sweet. Thanks! So, I'll wait until the pico shows up and it should auto appear in that list I guess. Thanks a ton for the help.

Also make sure your settings are correct in iTunes and Quicktime (which iTunes also relies on for settings) for bitperfect playback.

The Benchmark guides are a good source of setup info:

Hook up the DAC to the Mac using USB, then select it as the output device in "System preferences" / "Sound"
