All in one headphones? Help. (Update: Bought the Futuresonic Atrio M8's Double Update: Bought...

[s]I am looking for sort of an all in one headphone for Going "out of the house" (portable), gaming (doesn't have to meet this need), and listening to music such as rock, rnb, heavy rock, stuff on that level.

I had the shure e2c's and I liked them, also the Beyer DT770, they had way too much bass for my taste (too boomy) and hurt my head...

I want something with low impedence cuz I dont want to invest in an amp...

Im not sure if I want open or closed or IEM's. Anyone suggest something?

Price range $100-150 or so. Needs to be comfortable..

Thanks fellow headfiers![/s]

I used to be(still am) a basshead, and have grown quite accustomed to the Grado speed and bass....

Consider Grado's...

Used Grado SR225, to be exact. They should set you back right around $150.

Good luck .

I just purchased a used Grado SR-225, to be delivered shortly. It certainly meets your listening needs but I wouldn't exactly consider it portable. I tend to think of IEMs or ear buds as portable.

Were you leaning more toward a headphone or towards IEMs?

Well I think it depends on what you mean by 'going outside'. If it's going to be loud, open headphones may not be the way to go. It also would depend on whether or not you're willing to wear cans, as they may look and feel somewhat awkward.

px100s perhaps? they are super portable, have a good amount of bass and can be used for gaming, music, movies etc and are half or even 1/3 of the price you quoted, sennheiser hd555s are good too, but a they are a tad big bulkier and more around the 150 price range you mentioned

are they low impidence so I wouldn't need an amp? which model for the grados????

I dont mind personally wearing headphones in public. I think its totally acceptable even to wear AD700's lol...

Well i like the idea of IEM's but you usually get better sound from a headphone. They can be open or closed. Not sure if I like the "closed" environment as much.

Any other suggestions??

For portable use, since you don't mind open, you could always try the (gasp!) Koss KSC-75. $15 off of Amazon, and if you live in the states you can mod them for a headband. I use these for music and gaming. I know that I'm really happy with mine for the money I spent.

I hate to be the one to mention them, since it's almost cliche on these boards to recommend them, but I just don't feel right not bringing them to your attention.

I was skeptical as well. But, I figured that it wasn't much to lose. They're my open portable of choice. I listen to them about equal to my SR-60 (which are smoother and more refined...but for the difference in price, it's tough). I think they're worth it.
