i am probably wrong but dont balanced cables terminate in 2 xlr connectors or can you do with just one? ive never seen one in person but all the pictures ive seen of balanced cables have always had 2 connectors. same with balanced amps.
/proceeds to read about balanced cables. |

Thats a connector...you can connect a single ended or 2 balanced to that connector i believe.

cj,
Most commercial balanced cables terminate in dual 3-pin XLRs. However, there's a small segment of us who have chosen to adopt the K1000 4-pin XLR configuration. It's one less connector to worry about and accomplishes the same thing. See above. ![]() |

Nope, just a regular dynamic amp. Think of it this way, you only need 4 connections to make a balanced headphone signal (L+, L-, R+, R-) so those dual 3pin cables that you see have wasted connection points that aren't actually connected to anything. The 4pin XLR is the easiest way to wire balanced and actually makes a great single-ended connector as well. But enough derailing of this thread, stop by table 13 if you want a better explanation.
![]() Drew, glad to hear that you're making it this time - I too miss the left coast Nat. Meet so I'm very much looking forward to this one. |
