For my Bijou, I want to encase it in a wooden enclosure. I don't have the tools or the skills to make one that looks decent. So far, I have only found Welbourne Labs (Welborne Labs Hardwood Chassis) but they have a spotty record:
Anybody know of any alternative vendors?

I bought these puppies just before Christmas and they have been a revelation. I can't tell you how much they suit my listening tastes. I love close listening with lots of treble and tight...

It's very small player, so I like it. I have Clip+ since Christmas and I'm very satisfied!

First of all let me say this is one of my favourite BA driver earphones I have ever heard. That said, being a basshead, these didn't deliver in the bass department - I can't deny the fact...

I've had this card for quite a while now, and I have to say its a really nice card - a huge step-up to my on-board motherboard's audio. At first I do have to admit, it didn't feel like the D1...

Long story short: These earbuds, shouldn't ever be bought, when they come free in your iPod package, its fine to look at them, and try them on. If you know someone wanting to buy these,...

Nah, go local. Get the phonebook (lots less crap than Google these days) and find a local shop that sells hardwood and tools to woodworkers. Most of those places will have a shop where they will cut wood to your specifications for something like $35 an hour or $2 per cut. Don't worry, four sides and a base shouldn't require more than $20 of labor.
You'll also get to pick over a huge amount of lumber on site. You might be interested in oak or maple now, but just wait until you see another 60 or 70 species of wood. You'll probably change your mind.
If the store doesn't have a shop on site, check out their bulletin board. There should be a mess of woodworkers looking for small projects to build. If not, then put up your own ad asking for help. You'll find someone, for sure.
Also be sure to ask them about design and finishing. Joinery, while not tricky, isn't something you know about unless you've worked with it a bit. Same with finishing. Don't just buy a can of something, ask for an opinion based on the wood you choose.

I agree with going local! San Francisco should have at least one big wood supplier nearby. A good thing is to use an aluminum base plate to mount the pcb's. Much sturdier than wood for pbc mounting.
