Denon AH-D950 - Opinions anyone?

They were the top of the line in Denons old product line (before the Dx000 series). Anyone have them or heard them? They're fairly cheap...

What are they comparable to?

I have a pair -- they have very good bass and mids, but the highs are just a little rolled-off, compared to my D2000.
But, if you have good hearing (I don't ever since my rock band days) then they would be a great can for you to own.
I don't use mine anymore, but a few years ago, they were my favorite can for a while.
They are still in perfect condition -- built like a tank!
If they were the ONLY can I had, I would be happy as a clam with them -- but, I have so many newer cans, that they are living mostly in their protective box.

Thanks for that . I was thinking about getting a closed can that isolates a bit which is why I was curious about these...

So what genre of music do you think they fit best? Are they more up-front fast paced for rock or more laid back and classical like?

Also, out of all your headphone collection, what do you think they are comparable to and what are they better than?

They are o.k. if you like upfront presentation. Too much midbass and definitely overdone for my taste. Dark tonality, but overall a good headphone. I prefer them over the Sony MDR-V6 when I had them.

Ah ok. I don't think I'll bother then. I wanted something brighter to complement my senns.
