SM Pro Audio iNano passive volume attenuator?

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a reasonably cheap passive attenuator (for an X-Fi Prelude) - has anyone any experience of these?

SM Pro Audio - iNano

... or recommend a similar product in that price bracket?

Thanks

I was looking for a passive attenuator last year to use between a sound card and a pair of active balanced monitors and happened upon the SMPro M-Patch, which is what the iNano is based on. I found a lengthy review on a pro audio forum, and the reviewer found the device to audibly affect sound quality--reduced frequency response, higher SNR, and narrower soundstage. It was enough to put the budget passive attenuator idea out of my mind.

List price is $69. Availability is slim, but should increase soon; the product was introduced this season.
