Hi IPodPJ,
I've found, even with VD cables that have been cooked, that they still have a loooooooooooooooong burn-in time. The cable is very heavy guage. All the stuff they do at the factory I'm sure helps, but it still takes a long while for their cables to fully bloom. Well worth the wait, though.

I went through the same thing with a new Nite 3.0. I almost sent it back in favor of keeping my old Nite 2.0 (many many many hours on it). In A/B-ing it, it was no contest which was better. But I stuck it out and just left the Nite 3.0 on my component and kept it on 24/7 for a few weeks, then did all the swapping all over again, and this time, results reversed-- the Nite 3.0 was much more open on top and better all around.

I actually just took delivery of my own Master LE power cord, but I realize it will be s few weeks before I can evaluate it.

P.S. If you are looking for a power cable that will emphasize and highlight the upper treble, I have some recommendations.

Hiya Mark,
Actually, my system has excellent treble. I just didn't care too much for the flavor of that power cord in my system. But people seem to love it on their source. My neighbor confirmed it was burned in (like VD said), which makes the sonic traits of that cord on an amp really discouraging. But I would love to try out your Nite power cord one of these days.

Actually, I've gotten to the point where I'm waiting for you to finish your mod because I want to add some dampening to the inside of the Denons. After all these recent system cable, cord, and conditioner upgrades and trials, I see what you mean.

And do yourself a favor and try out an Audience high-resolution power conditioner. They are some of the best ones on the market... in the same league or better than API and Shunyata. The combination of the Power 3 with the Audience a1Rp (on loan from my neighbor) blows away the combination of the Master LE power cord and my current conditioner (which is a ten year old API). The power conditioner must be placed directly into the wall... I've tried piggybacking it and plugging it into my current conditioner.... it doesn't work nearly as well plugged in at the beginning of the power chain; only at the end of it, but the best results occur when it is all by itself plugged directly into the wall. The a1Rp is a single outlet isolated conditioner for $500, but has the exact same technology in it as their multi-outlet models.

That's where I'll be putting mine.

Now that I *finally* have my source back, this won't be long...

I'm using a PS Audio Power Plant Premier power regenerator. So, yeah, basically I have the power thing licked.

I've just deleted a bunch of useless posts and responses to those useless posts. Yes, this is a discussion forum. The topic being discussed is the review as posted by the OP. The topic is not whether power cords make an audible difference to sound in the bald, abstract, sense. How many times do we need to do this drill?

So...anyone got any experience comparing the less expensive VD line (ie anything less than Nite) with the the more expensive stuff (master and above)?

Are there any difference? if so in what aspects? and in what degree (ie how much difference)?

If possible, maybe a list of equipments you used to determine the difference.

Where do you categorize the Nite? In the "in between less expensive and expensive?" (Kidding, of course).

I plan to try a Power 3 in the future (I own a Nite 3.0 for my 840c right now). It may be awhile, but I'll let you know if the difference is drastic or not.

I tested those ...

Nite Platinum
Master 3

Master vs Nite Platinum ...

Master is larger (width) by a good margin over the Nite. The Master is neutral (little bit on the warm side).

Nite is warmer, more highs and more bass extention and punch. Details come closer to me.

1 master on my dac and 1 master on my amp it's too wide ... I prefer have more center focus with deeper soundstage.

Mixing the Nite and Master help ...

I don't notice something more ... Nite to Master it's a side move only (IMO).

Tell me about it. It's getting ridiculous in this forum already.

I guess this is a useless post, too.
