rockbox player

I have an Insignia Pilot 4gb(check the sales/trade forum) and I like it and all but thanks to this site I've become a bit of an audiophile, owning X3i's, and the Pilot has average/ok sq. I want a player ~100$ with at least 2-4gb and .flac. I've looked at the cowon player but they're a bit expensive. I'm not crazy about the Meizu. What rockbox player will work best for me? I've mainly been looking at the F20/40 and the E250/60 but want to know more about those and other players.

I have a F40; sound great, work great with RockBox. The battery life with RockBox is good also.

now I have a dilemma...F20/40, or E250/60/70/80?
maybe F20/40. The sansa e2XX V1 series sucks, really sucks a lot.

what's bad about it? The only issue with the Gigabeat for me is that it has a hard drive instead of flash.

No thanks..
1) I don't need that much storage
2) I need a color screen
3) It's still an iPod
4) I like having video playback

I just picked up an F40 on eBay, and I love the thing. Not only is it well suited for Rockboxing, but I just discovered last night that the Rockbox video player will play my recorded ReplayTV/DVArchive shows, and a little tweaking of the video files results in a nice 320x240 TV image on the F40 with sound. Very slick. Now I can carry around a large part of my music collection *plus* a few movies.

Not sure I follow you on this one.

You may want to do some research into video and Rockbox, because the last time I checked Rockbox only had rudimentary video support. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I have an F60 player rockboxed. It sounds great much better than my IPOD vedio and X5L. The sound is as clear as the IPOD vedio but with more details and more bass. The screen is nice and the battery is reasonable. What's more, it's got a dock station with a lineout(but not sure about the improvement with an amp, I tried a hornet, not much different). The best thing about it still the SQ, even compared with my kenwood A7, it will still be very competetive. If you want to look for a rockbox player,go for it, it will not disappoint you.
