sennheiser cx500, any one used them?

hi all
even though ive got a pair of UE Super.Fi 4's on the way, i feel like buying another pair of headphones, but not overly exspensive ones!

The sennheiser cx500 can be found on ebay here for bout $80aud (bout $72usd) they are $150aud in shops...... so quite a saving.

The packages in these listings look identical as the ones in stores here, can any one spot any thing that might show they are fakes?
Sennheiser CX500 CX 500 in ear earphone (Black) - eBay Headphones, Earbuds, Apple iPod Accessories, MP3, Digital Accessories, Electronics. (end time 19-Feb-08 13:55:09 AEDST)
Genuine Sennheiser CX500 Ear-Canal Earphone(Black)-OZ - eBay Headphones, Earbuds, Apple iPod Accessories, MP3, Digital Accessories, Electronics. (end time 12-Feb-08 14:44:32 AEDST)

(just hope they are genuine, as i know there are a lot of fake sennheisers floating round the net! I might email couple sellers see if they are aussie stock)

Any way, has any one used these headphones?

How do they compare to the cx300? (or even the cx400, though i think 400/500 are the same, just 500 has voloume control)

I know many liked the cx300 (coz of their price) but some hated them. Has the SQ been improved in the cx500 over the cx300?

Also, can any one else recommend other in ear 'phones around the $75usd mark? (any armature type 'phones for this price?)

thanks in advanced

for 72$usd thats very close to the MSRP so theres a good chance there authentic but you never know with that model until you get them but the cx500 is supposed to be the upgrade to cx300 with small improvements here and there but not a huge leap in sound quality and they have massive bass that's very unnatural sounding imo

cx500 have no bass? no they have plenty of excellent bass, maybe you tried a fake/faulty one lejo. the cx500 is very good sounding and very engaging imo, I tried both the e2c & cx500 and I would pick the cx500 any day, the e2c im sure have almost no bass lol.

cx500 is good, but that price is too high. They are dropping the price because the product is end of life.
Here in Holland/Europe it now is available for 25€, which is quite spectaculair:

I own a genuine a pair of genuine cx500. It has the same sound signature as my ie7. I got my on sale for $30 off Dell. For the price it's almost a steal. I like those earphones better than my image x10. The only down side is the crappy cable. Other than that it's a great buy

Got original CX 500 for 29 €.

I love them. Lots off bass - just the right amount! Don't listen to lejo.
SQ is amazing. Great isolation. Only negative point is the cable.

My favorite earphones for traveling by train.

for a few more bucks, i would suggest going for a sennheiser cx95 instead.
its SQ is more similar to the IE series (bigger soundstage, fuller bass, more upfront mids)
