I had noticed that with the default settings there was quite a bit of distortion through my iBasso D2 amp above a volume level of 35, so I can see where the 34 came from.
Taking the recommendation here, I dropped everything to 0, and the EQ to -12, then cranked the volume to 50 hear the result. Way too sibilant and empty sounding for my liking.
If this setup is supposed to best mimic a true line out, then it sounds like I'm not looking for a true line out. I'm not complaining, it's just not for me.
Here's my favorite setup thus far while using my iBasso D2 amp through my Sennheiser HD595s. The bass is strong, but not muddy or overpowering, the mids are crisp and strong, and the highs have a clear sparkle without being sibilant. It's (literally) music to my ears!

Then put the volume knob on my amp to the 3 o'clock position.

Edit: Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, I didn't look at the dates. Oops.
