Super Mini Anolgue Volume Control vs. Digital Volume Control.

Whats the diff between the digital volume control and analogue volume control (on the super mini).
I understand the difference between the 1 button and 2 button digital control....
But what about anologue..
Is it less accurate or what?
...
Only thing i could think of was that the anolgue one might change volumes by accident (if in pocket and moved around)

The digital volume control is controlled by push buttons and has 64 levels. The analog is a continuously variable knob. Functionally they should be the about the same, but the analog volume control can accept 12v input while the digital volume control can only accept 7.2v. So if you want to use a booster to drive high impedence phones, it might be better to get the analog. But I find the digital is probably much better for portable use since it's not likely to have the volume change on you in your pocket.

Hmmm icic. Excellent. Thanks for the imput. Do you find that the digital volume control is not exact? Like there is not a small enough difference between each setting? I get that with my Home Theatre amp all the time. It has a fully turning knob. But it is a 'digital' volume control. So it just changes in incriments of 1 db. And it gets annoying sometimes... I would like to have it finer..

Hmmm.. on the fixup website, they have the option of buying a 'with booster' and digital volume.. So that doesn't work right? hmm.. the only thing you would get out of that is just being able to use a squre battery?

I think the digital volume control is quite precise. With 64 settings, each one in between is quite small. It's actually difficult to tell the difference in volume between two adjacent settings, so the adjustment is quite fine.

You can use the booster with digital volume, that's what I have. I just use 6 nimh cells which is 1.2x6 = 7.2 volts. You have to buy that extra booster pack to use the extra 3 batteries though.

Hmmmm icic.. then how do u get 12v??

the digi can only handle up to 7.2 v
ahh.. soo confusing
haha
im still debating on whether to get booster w/ anologue or digi.

errr
when u refer to high impendence headphones

I have the digital, as well, but without the booster. The digital control works great. It's very precise. Previously, there was a one button digital which wasn't well received but I never tried it.

A high impedence can would be like an HD600, which is 300 ohms. The supermini without the booster might have trouble with that. What kind of headphones do you have? The supermini drives 100 ohm cans with no problem. In your other post you mentioned the Etys and the Shures. I don't think the supermini will have trouble with those phones but I've never tried them. So I also don't know how they'll sound together.

Hmmm icic. Thanks for all the advice guys. Yes, currently i own the G52 Sony streetstyle and a pair of imitation eggos. I am planning to purchase the shure e2c earphones within the week. I just haven't decided on a retailer yet.

therefore, this amp would be used to drive shure e2cs. Anyone out there have an experience with these canal buds?
