ALO Modded SR-225 or Normal RS-2

Just as the title explains, has anyone compared these two in particular. They cost about the same with about $100 price difference with ALO being more expensive. Or an upgrade of RS-2 is preferred later on.

Go RS-2 , and dont look back. A great hp.

The RS-2 has a better resale value, any modded Grado cans are more difficult to sell afterwards. Somehow, I preferred the SR225 to the RS-2 though, so my vote is for the ALO modded SR225.

I can't imagine how a recabled SR225's can be better than the stock RS2? There is a big improvement when moving from the SR225's to the SR325i's, and another (rather small) step forward when deciding on the RS2's. Are those Grado cables really that bad? I don't believe it.

i like tweaks but still RS2.

You don't think the woodied cups with ALO cables will make a large difference? Aren't Grado's sensitive to cable mods? Or am I thinking Senns?

I really have no experience on the topic, I'm also curious...

it makes difference but not as big as going from 225 to rs2.

i think the woodied and recabled SR225 looks and probably sounds very good, but i would still go RS2.

Are you looking at a new RS-2? Those are around $500. A used RS-1 also runs about $500. Have you considered a RS-1? The RS-1 is one of my favorites and I think one or two other people here like it, too.

The stock cable is just fine. The RS-1 sounds amazing with it - I wouldn't make any mod that could change the sound.

I think the woodied 225s would be great for someone that already knows the 225 sound is for them (and has tried other Grados). Otherwise, go with the RS-2.

Something big has to happen to SR-225's that I would take them over RS-2's. RS-2's are a definate and a big upgrade from SR-225's.

I have to say my woodied SR-225's are GREAT, I love these hp's the difference the wood makes is startling. Also I know the woodied SR-225's will be able to handle bass and still stay sharp.

Cable replacements offer the least sonic upgrades IMO, especially considering its price. You're better off upgrading your cans first. Cable upgrades are very last upgrades I'm willing to do, right up there with interconnects. However, some cable upgrades are really worthwhile, especially if stock cables are made of steel (HD25) or easily replaceable (HD600). Some may disagree with this, but my order of upgrade priority goes like this:
Headphones>Source>Amp>Cables>interconnects

I agree and RS-2 has got the votes again, well I will think of RS-1 or RS-2.

why are woodie cans hard to sell? Never understood that. Doesn't everyone want a one of a kind set?
