Ultrasone HFI vs PROline Ear pads...

I need help from some headphone addicts!

I've been using Ultrasone HFI 700's for the past year and i love them. but after an hour, my ears get irritated. I think its a combination of the heat and just the crappy pleather earpads.

i recently saw they have Ultrasone PROline 750's with velvet ear pads. My question is, if i order Ultrasone PROline 750 ear pads, will I be able to put them on my 750? It says something about "fast switch technology" so I'm not really sure if they will fit on my 750.

also, if anyone has the PROline 750's, do you like the ear pads? Are the velvet ones more comfortable then the pleather ear pads on the 750?

Thank you!
Mike

Hey Mike,

Short answer is no, the "speed switch" ear pads of the Ultrasone PRO models utilize a bayonet style mount (similar to some camera lenses) and are not compatible with the HFI series which employ the stretchover pleather pads.

Furthermore, the PRO series pads are all engineered specifically for their respective models. For example, putting PROline 750 pads on a PROline 2500 or PROline 650 will alter the overall character of the sound, and not necessarily in a positive manner.

Personally, I'm fine with both the velour pads on the PROlines and the pleather pads of the HFI. But I've seen complaints about both, so it's obviously a matter of individual preference.

Of course, none of this helps your situation. Perhaps you can find a way of stretching and fastening fabric over your stock pads, or maybe others will chime in with alternative solutions...

Good luck!
