Denon DCD-1290: anybody here have/had one?

Recently, I found said CD player in mint condition at a thrift store for $75.00. It's on my desk now. It still has that "new CD player smell" every time I load a CD in it.

Anyway, it has a variable volume headphone jack that sounds surprisingly good. It has 2 sets of RCA out jacks: fixed and variable, along with a coax and optical digital output. The DAC is a dual 20 bit/8x OS. It is a single disc player. The sticker on the back says it was made at the end of 1992.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody else was familiar with this model. I'm enjoying it - a LOT!!!

The faceplate is a thin extrusion, and the cd drawer goes in and out with a graceless clunk, both of which are superficial complaints. It really IS heavy! I have no idea why.

I think it might make a great transport, or more accurately, I can't think (or hear) any reason why it wouldn't.

I wouldn't dream of selling it!! But your asking really made my day! I'm still a little stunned every time I look at my desk and see it there.

I really need to upgrade my choice of headphones. I'm hoping to order some AKG 501 headphones verrrrry soon.

And, someday, maybe an amp. The snakes that live on my desk say they want me to get a tube amp this time.

Never heard of that one. I know the DCD-1500 is pretty good though.

Exellent player you bought. I've got one to.

Well built and heavy 9.2 kg.

Very musical one of the top in that time frame.

Built from92 till 94. good buy.
