Do you think that your source will still be fluent in, say, 2 years or so?

I cant say when I'll be able to get more pads. Hopefully they will still have them for many more years, but I can't tell for sure.

fyi, these are great pads. They bring out detail and a bit of the high end, and give the bass a little more slam and detail, at the expense of a bit of super low end of course. More of an airy sound, less body. They are a great way to tailor your phones to your personal taste. They're also very comfortable.

Hm...doesn't sound like pads for the K271 then...that would be like a HD650 with tamed highs...

curious, any idea how these would sound with the AKG k240 sextetts?
also, do they get sweaty quickly like the k271 pads?

I highly enjoyed them with the K271 when I had it. It added some thwack back to the bass which to me is always a good thing!

I don't know how they sound on the 240's, but I do know some of the people who have these use them with the 240's so maybe one of them will see your post and reply.

Did the pads alter the mids section? I'm asking because better bass can be achieved with taped DT770 pads, but these cut noticable 5-10% of the sweet AKG mids.

Well, I've been out of these for some time (I had 12 pairs and it seems they weren't enough).
A few more head-fi'ers have contacted me and asked for these, so far 2-3 pairs. I'm gonna have to go to the store sometime in the next week or two, and would like to know how many pairs to get, so if there's anyone else who needs a pair of pads please let me know using a PM.

these pads don't touch the midrange, at least not in the way the velour (and i imagine beyer as well) pads alter the sound. The only affect they might have is adding a bit of detail or sharpness (not to make them harsh or sharp by any means, just less round- a bit) but the most affect I remember was on the treble, more open, and airy and aggressive, and to the bass- a bit less reverberating deep bass the sound (the kind that doesn't sound like an instrument, but just fills in), so that the bass was a bit tighter, and more about the notes than the deeper thunderous tones.... I don't think you could really say good/bad here, it's just a way of tuning the phones to personal preference.

I'm keen for a set.

would this shorten the depth of the bass? The only real problem I have with my velours is that it's hard for them to get them in the perfect position to seal well. I wouldn't want to kill off my bass extension/soundstage for isolation with these.
