Ultimate Ears Super.fi EB vs. Pro?

Hey, so im looking at getting some IEM, and i narrowed it down to the Ultimate Ears Super.fi EB and the Pro. Im going to be using the headphones for my ipod, laptop etc. and was wondering which one i should go for. I like my bass to be loud but I heard its to overpowering on the EB version. Any advice?

I haven't heard the EB but the Pro has sufficient bass for most. I have heard that the Pro has more detail or something, but I may be wrong. The EB has a larger bump on it to accommodate the dynamic driver in it, so the EB looks larger and even more awkward than the SF5 Pro. From what I have read, the bass on the EB is nice, though. Much more powerful although some say that it is more quantity than quality.

Regardless, I really like bass and I really like my SF5 Pro. Who knows, if I ever try the EB I might end up liking that more.

Lol, ok is the bass on the pro thumping or it it just heard really well?

It depends on the song. If you really want to, you can even do some EQ work because the SF5 Pro can definitely handle the bass quite well if you want some thumping bass. Of course, the EB would presumably do better in that field. But all in all, the bass on the Pro is strong but not overpowering at all.

When I listen to stuff like Pink Floyd on my SF5 Pro it sounds absolutely amazing and the bass is nice and tight but not too strong or anything. If I have my iPod on shuffle and some hip-hop song comes up (where the engineer obviously gave a large boost to the low end) I sometimes find myself thinking "holy sh*t, this bass is crazy".

Some people like the EB more, though. The SF5 Pro is more versatile.

Ah, ok for the mids and high is there a big difference between the EB and Pro? Or is the pro the better option?

According to this, the treble is pretty similar. I like the Pro because I don't think I would want to go bigger, like the EB and I want to have something that's more on the versatile side.

the EB's bass thumps really hard sometimes, which I enjoy - but one thing to note is how the mids get quite covered up. Recently switched to the ES2 cables, which reduced some volume on the bass so things are more detailed now. Perhaps closer to the SF5pro sound, but I think the thumps are still sweeter.

Haven't had the chance to do a real comparison tho.

I own both and I can tell you this: go for the Pro's, they are so much better. Unless you like CRAZY bass, the Pro's will be enough in the bass department. The thing with the EB's is that the bass is so overpowering the mids and highs sound muddy.

Plus, if you don't like the bass quantity when you get your Pro's, you can always EQ it up a bit. They will blow your eardrums away with bass if you tell them to.
