Best SACD Player for 1500 dollars.

Hi....I have recently been experimenting with direct connection (Etys plugged directly into source) with good success.

Because I know longer have to worry about spending dough on an amp, I would like to go all out on the source.

Thus, I am looking for an awesome SACD player for about $1500.

THANKS!

I don't think the Sony XA777ES came down enough in price, but you may be able to pick it up used.

I've never heard the headphone out, but it's supposed to be very very good.

I have never heard this, and it's over your $1500.00 mark, but is this not cool looking or what?

Shanling CD-T200 SACD

Plus, I don't think it has a headphone jack. But, man that blue.

Thanks....but I am not using the headphone jack.

I am listening to my Etys without ANY amplification at all - none. I have a RCA to Female Mini cable plugged into my current source, and the headphone plugged in to the cable.

I think I must have missed a thread.

How do you control the volume?

best $1500 sacd

An sacdmods.com modded sony 555es. If you can find a 555. The 222es from sacdmods is also excellent and would be aroud $725 total. CD on the modded 222es is nearly as good as my perpetual tech p1a/p3a, with sacd better yet. I have both and the mods transform the players. I am betting the 222es would be as good or better than a stock xa777es. Modding these players was the best money I have spent in a long time.

That hole you see along the right hand side of the Shanling is the headphone jack. I'm not sure if it's pure tube or a hybrid tube/op-amp but it does use the 2C51 tube, why not the more readily accessible 12AU7, 6DJ8, etc., I don't know.

I don't - luckily there is a near perfect volume I get streight from the line.

Do you plan on using your system like that all the time? Different recordings have different outputs, you know.

So you seem to listen very loud. I used to use a potentiometer to attenuate the signal.

There's a new Yamaha universal player in that range that's supposed to be good. There's a Marantz universal in that price range that's supposed to be good. You could buy a used 777ES, but if you're going that route, you should increase your budget to $2000 and buy the superior XA777ES.

Other options are heavily modified Sony players such as the 333ES or the 555ES.

Grab a new Marantz SA14 (if you can find one), a much better choice than any comparably priced Sony unit...

If you are intent on spending that much take a look at the Marantz DV8300. I recently auditioned it and the sound was excellent. I must say though that the Philips 963SA did just as well during the few hours I listened.

Yes.....hmmm...well it can be loud for some recordings, and a few soft. But, most of the time it is perfect.

However, the detail level in amazing. The direct connection expessially is great for jazz recordings I have noticed.
