Oh, and I don't know what the Hotel's smoking policy is, but flux fumes aren't exactly wholesome organic goodness, so I recommend fume extractors be present for the soldering stations.

Good point Ed, something else to look into....although in my head, they don't mind at all.

That would be nice, I certainly hope he can make it to the meet as well.

I seem to have so much this fine cable I'm overrun with it! Let me know if you need me to send you some.

If it ends up we can't attend Can Jam, you'll have it set up so we can follow along via remote access, right?!

How much time are you planning for the class to build an amp? when are you looking to make time for the class verus what else is going on at Canjam?

as far as building cables if anyone wants some practice I can setup a sweat shop in my room to build xlr-dmx cables for me...hell the students will get tons of experience!...around the time of CanJam i will need to switch out the old to the new cables so who wants to build about 200 of them?...i mean who wants to learn and gain experience?..hehe

I have to been thinking of a diy class since 04 so i really hope this takes off as it should. diy is one of the best parts in this hobby and if one person can walk out of the meet with their own built amp and the satisfaction of what they did it should all be worth it!

Absolutely. I've made some simple cables but have otherwise stalled on building an amp. This seminar will probably be the kick in the butt I need to get motivated on it. Do we know the price yet?

Hey, I might like to try doing a couple of cables? What is the cost$ and what type of materials would be used? Is Silver a possibility? Thanks Scottsmrnyc

I should have final costs for the amp and cable kits soon (like within the next week.)

My deepest apologies to all. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend CanJam due to a work related conflict.
My day job requires that I attend a conference going on during that period and I cannot make it to Florida in time.

I wish things were different because I really wanted to do this seminar with all of you, perhaps next year.

Cheers,
Stephen (thrice)

I'd be interested in amps. I would like to see someone demonstrate making an iPod lod. I'm absolutely terrible soldering wire to those little metal strips. I've given up.

Despite the loss of thrice, I am going to try to keep the seminars on the schedule. I will post as soon as I have more information to share.

A special thanks to our celebrity amp builder, Vince Vaughn, for offering to change this to a "build your own beta22" panel.

Actually, that was balanced beta22 Dan. Problem is that it's now a week long seminar and the price has gone up just a bit.

Seriously though, some of us are doing what we can to try and still stick it to the man. Details forthcoming.

Due to thrice's not being able to attend and the possible backup having issues that may prevent his attendance, I am going to cancel.

If two volunteers advise me they would like to take this on, I would consider doing this. It would have to limited to interconnects.
