I would call my ears average size and I think the pads are a little on the small size. My outer ear rubs against the inside of the cup and they feel just barely tall enough to accommodate the top of the ear and the lobe comfortable, but they do do it. Width is not an issue. I actually did a pretty sweet mod to make my HFI-700 more comfy, but I don't want to put it up until it's finished.
thanks for that, i really appreciate it.
they do seem kinda smallish. i would have preferred 0,2 cm more depth as the main reason i'm getting new cans to replace my mdr-7506 is that my ear rubs on the plastic there and gets irritated quite quickly (i'm not a big fan of their sound either though). height doesn't sound too big either. damn it.
too bad i can't go test them anywhere here as no one sells them around here (that i know of anyway).

5.5cm height? I thought "regular" ears are something like 7-8cm high. Why can't they just make them big enough to fit comfortably, like Beyer DT's or Senn HD's? Ah well, good thing I can try them before I buy them... which is hopefully soon.

I made some ear cup measurements in post 104 for the HFI-780. BTW at 20 posts a page that makes this post on page 6.

Waiting for the new batch to hit the new owners

I am listening to Steely Dan - Aja and totally digging these 780's

What music do you listen to when you get a (or this) new headphone?

I'm soooo close to buying a pair of these. I just can't turn loose of the money... yet.

I bought my pair before the alo mod came out and now I am debating about getting the mod. I just want to hear some other peoples impressions on the mod.

But these are plain worth the money I paid for them. I paid more for can's that don't sound as good as these for rock.

Guys, just a quick question regarding isolation. If I were to wear the 780 on an international flight, will the person sitting next to me hear and be disturbed by any noise at all.

Second, if I have the alo mod, will it wipe the manufacture warranty out?

And lastly, what I didn't get from headphoneaddict in his comparison to the ue9 is that how close the alo 780 is to the ue9, is it 80%, 90% or 95% of the ue9.

So it is 99,999%? That's quite a multiplicative factor.

Wow... 99.999% souperman... question. How's the bass on the HFI-780 compared to the D2000s, specifically the bass impact and slam. Since that's the only part of the D2000's bass that I find somewhat lacking

One more thing, is $250 CAD shipped a good deal on the HFI-780s?

Wow...I know...he said 99,999. Sorry, but last time I learned in elementary school, 99,999 does not equal 99.999.

I also do find the D2000's lacking in bass slam which prompted me to sell it very quickly. Hopefully the 780's can deliver.

Well, I EQ'ed it so that it's not as noticable but compared to the Atrio M5s, it's still somewhat lacking. Hopefully, the HFI-780 are better in this front. Eager to here your update, souperman
