In terms of Bass, bass slam and punch the hfi 780's really beat the Denon's easily. I still like my Denon 2000 and when I over did it by listening to much and to loud to the hfi 780's (and got fatigued) I listened to the Denon 2000's to recover hehehe as they sound so soft and mild compared to the hfi 780's which are absolutely great Rock can's and that is the primary reason I wanted them. I listen to mostly Rock and these babies just Rock like crazy.

I also own Grado 225 and think these are way better for Rock. I have also listening to some jazz and acoustic music and these can's are just great as well.

...But that graph is something confused. It begin the frecuency graph below -20 Db and appear that there is not positives ranges...
Where is really the 0 DB range then? and the 0 DB range in the top really is what range?? +10 +20 db??
Well, i deciphered/pluzzled the graph to my own, but...
And for some (here) that think that a strong bass is bad for music, there is a lot of other closed headphones with an more "neutral" frecuency=(normally and) anemic bass. Please READ the complete thread, before of buy or to make a statement...

slwiser (again) With all due respect, please don't squander the money buying the same stuff over and over. You can need that money tomorrow...
And you can help to another poor/hardshiped/needed people in this world if you have money to throw away......

Some have suggested the 780 are a bit bright and you can see compared to the UE9 at about 6K they do contain about 6-8 db more energy. The UE9 has more energy at the peak above 10k than the 780. But in the bass region compared to the UE9 the 780 just can't keep up. The 780 has less energy in the upper-bass region by several dB.

I hope you guys wanting bass killers are not disappointed.

I normalized the charts so they would compare equally. If you set your volume at -10 for one phone and -20 for another this would not be real. What I did was adjust them to have a better feel for what they would do against each other. I know it is confusing.

Now that I've decided on getting them, where do I get them cheapest that ships to asia? I tried the avgiant link that always comes out when you type ultrasone on the search engine and they ship worldwide but shipping to the philippines is over 100 dollars cough cough not to mention the price is retail. I had headphones shipped from ttvj before and they only charge 20 bucks to ship to the Philippines. Too bad they don't have ultrasones

That graph by slwiser is nonsense, sorry to say. Looks like two frequency response curves mashed together willy-nilly, without any rhyme or reason. The decibels are way off. It doesn't say anything about anything. If you mixed the frequency response from a Senn Orpheus and a Koss Plug, and stretched it accordingly, you would probably get similar results.

I've seen this graph reposted several times, and this is probably how rumors spread - though the power of the forum and/or web.

Not that a frequency response is the be-all-end-all of a phone, anyway...

Raw curves from Careless Headphones web site:

HFI-780:

UE9:

Just because they don't show what you expect does not mean the chart is non-sense. It just makes a statement that understanding is not an option nor desired. The frequency curve aspect that I was noting is the energy (sound level) that each headphone can produce at the respective frequency. The only judgments that I made were comparitive. Also note that there has been no sketching at all along the frequency curve. This statement is plan non-sense that along the frequency curve that the information is skewed.

It appears that they set the comparison to be at 1k. I set mine on the far left. 1k may be more appropriate as shown above since it is right in the middle of the music range.

i dont get it. it dissapeared. just click on the link. sometimes the file comes out sometimes it goes to a japanese yahoo thingie

there... i put it in my photobucket so that it keeps on working

It is coming up for me. Maybe their web site disavows redirection sometimes. I have seen this before. This was one of the considerations that I had when I made my composite chart that is confusing.
