So what's the word on the new Ultrasone HFI-780???? - Page 136

Hehehe, yes a ED 9 for a LOT less ; I will be the first in the site (at least i think (not sure at all but %99 sure) if i hurry) with a Hybrid as that; I will be making history... hehehe. But people, please doesn't damage your HFI-780 if it works perfectly .
In other hand, you can contact them, In ultrasone USA; but not in the homepage (there isn't the spare part announced). I can give the contact details to you, if you want. Only send me a MP and i will help you.

How you see, the Ed 9 enclosure and pads are similar in form to the HFi-780. Only the cable (that i think so) is inferior, but that can be remedied...

Hey Big Guy,
If you only knew how much money I had already spent before I posted on your FS thread. Makes even me sick. If I could sell just what I bought last weekend alone, and get exactly what I paid for it, I could order a new custom built β22, and have enough left over to go to BK lounge. I have a newfound respect for the saying " and sorry about your wallet ".

Besides, I kinda figured if I let it ride for a week or two, you might come down or PM me witha offer. Evidently, I figured wrong.

Heres to hoping your Proline 780 project smokes the Ed9's!!!

Hmm I wonder why no one really mentions the Edition 7's around here With some effort someone may even make a Proline 750 to look/sound close to one of those.

I can see a few of you guys eventually jumping to the Ed9's. Temptation is there, it's yours! Take it!

Yup. Only bought the drivers. Basically, all you need is some parts, a bit of know-how and creativity. Creating frankenphones is one of my favorite hobbies and I have created a couple of serious keepers. How about a pair of DT880 drivers in an old Sennheiser HD590 chassis? Personally, addressed all of the DT880 shortcomings and are one of my most musical sounding headphones especially in balanced form. Those and my Pro750 in the Q40 chassis are 2 big hits.

Personally, I doubt putting the 750 drivers in a 780 chassis would yield favorable results. The 750 sound chamber is unusually large - bigger than Beyer's DTxx0 chassis'. You need some volume and the 780 is pretty congested. What is interesting is that the drivers themselves is smaller than, say, Beyers so the massive quality sound produced is quite impressive. I'm thinking of buying a few more pair of them. I may at some point even trying making my own sound chamber but that is down the road a bit. I definitely want to try them in an open Beyer chassis a la DT990 - my favorite 'phone (the 600 ohm version). I've got all the parts except the 990 grill so I just may manufacture something on my own.

See? A bit of creativity and you can mix and match just about any driver with any chassis! Have fun with it!

X2, or at least sound nearly as good as. I'm very interested in the ED9, and would like a closed headphone. The HFI780 seem to have too much treble, but if the 750 driver in 780 body works out, that might be it.

Very desafortunate, but well. I understand your decision.... For now the offers still stands. Because the middleman that i have, can't help me....
And i still don't received a reply from ultrasone, about the price and payment form (an alternative for me that live outside USA).
In other hand, you are (and the others) who has to do the offer to me (not below $160).

If the prices hadn't fallen so dramatically I would've sold my 780s a while ago. I've never been impressed with them and their only exceptional attributes are isolation and that they do defy their closed form by not sounding so.

pads are similar but since the material are different, the pleather pads of HFI series are not equal or even closed to Ed9 pads...cmiiw !

wow, where do you grab those drivers from ? or have you taken em from the same source as wilashort too ?
Yes, i known that the material is different. But i don't believe that it make them sound different....It make the headphone innecesary expensive, i think that it's a silly luxury.
In other hand, i still doesn't get the drivers, and still i don't get a response from ultrasone.
I writed to warrior05, to get a pair for me, because i have difficulties to get/buy them [one of the middlemans said: "I only bought from stores (aka ebay, Newegg, etc)" is a opinionated idiot].

For an extra couple of dollars, you can get them new WITH drivers, so it wasn't a big loss.
