It's amazing how Beyer has truly spoiled me comfort wise. Beyers are SO comfortable, they set a very high bar.
x2, you really take the beyer comfort for granted, until you switch to another headphone. after getting used to the pro750s, going back to the dt990s was like putting on feather pillows on my head.

NSL responded to my inquiry, stating that when I ordered the 780 last week they were out, although it is normally stocked. They said they had more coming in today and mine would ship soon. I mentioned that the website makes it look like they are in stock as opposed to stocked, and that I was hoping to still get them this week.

I didn't say I would pay more to get them faster, but I'm hoping that since I bought Edition 9 from them that they'd treat me like an important customer and choose 3 day guaranteed delivery on their own. We'll see...

Yeah, same here. They were supposed to get a shipment today but it doesn't appear to be the case. I got a voicemail (in response to my enquiry) saying that I may not receive them this week. It is disappointing but their service has been pretty good thus far.

Skylab,
How's 780 bass against your D5000 bass?
I own D2000, and i think it's a bit bloated, plus the high is sometimes piercing my ears... does 780 sound better?

Sorry, new to ultrasones...

Whats the sound sig like in these? Bright and in your face like Grado's or more laid back and 'dull' like Senns?

These are more up front, but I don't think they're in your face like Grados. They're aggressive, but from maybe the second row instead of climbing onstage. I don't like in your face sound, but I enjoyed the HFI-700s sound, and these are probably similar in that aspect I would guess (by all means feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though).

I really should stop chiming in since I don't have direct experience with these specifically.

I had ordered my HFI 780 last Sat from RMC. I called them to verify on status, and I was heard that HFI 780 are back ordered for now. Says had sudden rush of orders. Mostly likely, head-fiers. Just the power of this website~

yea I like how when I first posted in this thread, there was little interest. Now it has a following and there seems to be an influx of ultrasone fans.

Aye...be careful, we might end up with another 'special about ultrasones' thread >.<

People have to buy into the S-Logic sound to enjoy them. Some people seem to not be able to do this. So it is a love it or hate it situation and the HFI-780 has S-Logic Plus.

The biggest negative for the HFI-780 that "I" have so far is the cable. This may be the first headphone that I have that I send out for re-cabling.

On another side note. The UE9 may be essentially a mix of the Proline plus HFI line in sound and the HFI-780 may just have bridged a little of the original HFI gap toward the UE9 in my opinion.

My second Lavry came in today and I replaced my Beresford with it. The HFI-780 is singing a bit better now. Now the HFI-780 at the computer is feed by the Yamamoto HA-02 and Lavry DA10 just like at my Easy Chair. The main difference now is the dac sources and the nicer power and ICs on the one at the Easy Chair. At the Easy Chair is the Squeezebox and at the computer is the M-Audio USB Audiophile (JMedia) and HagUSB-XLR (Winamp).

When you buy into the S-Logic sound, what do you do? What's the "sound"?
i would say he means the way the sound is delivered, to the outer ear rather than the ear canal.

"S-Logic" for mere mortal phones

I tried both the PL750 and PL2500 and just couldn't get used to the S Logic. It's a shame really because both had a lot of good qualities that I like in a headphone. Is the S Logic Plus supposed to be better than plain old S Logic?

I don't get not being able to get used to S-Logic...its pretty trivial sounding, and pretty effective at what it does, very nice. It is not the S-Logic that I found to be bothersome O.o
