Wow ! You where close ! and the only one who answered.

This was originaly known as the Sennheiser Lucas. However this thing was originaly designed and manufactured by a USA company named Virtual Listening Systems. They where selling this device under their own brand as the "Auri Direct"

I purchased this thing in 1996, 12 years ago !!!

How time as passed.

this may be off subject but saying 1996 like old times... wow. i just realised that it is 12 years ago. i guess i always think of it like this: ps was new, saturn only on market a few months or a year or so, we had just immigrated to canada and it was damn cold.

i was 15 and thinner than now. a skateboarder and footballer (now i can barely kick to save my life). 12 years is a long time. by the way, anyone care to hear about the dj1pro? no one?

On some records you will not hear it, but I suggest try to listen some real (not electronic) acoustic instruments, like saxophone, violas, guitars. It will became clear.

I personally listen to a lot of acoustic and I did hear a SLIGHT bit, but after recabling, surprisingly it is gone.

That's might be... I personally not impressed enough by them to consider recabling. I think the better phones are better investment then cable (but I don't really know...). Unfortunately, there are not many choices for "portable".

Maybe you would like the 750s as I do although they have a rather particular soundsig which not everyone likes. I use them as a portable hp as well as for home purposes.
Ow, and ALO sells them with a recable and different drivers for just $ 785

Skylab, you have more impressions to give about the soundstage Depth and other improvements, after of the Mogami recable?
Thanks

I don't really understand why you think Skylab will answer any more of your questions after the whole insult incident...
I've narrowed down my wire choices for the recable to the cardas 4x24AWG (the wire the commercial senn cables use) OR the Vampire 20AWG cast copper wire. Not sure if they'll better the mogami but I'm willing to try. I'm still going to use Scott's services but I'm going to supply the wire if its one of the above.

What happen to you; are you Skylab...?. What is your fuss with me?. Do I something bad to you?
Besides, i already make it up with Skylab. So do you don't need to add fuel to the fire.
You are resentful person.

My 780 with the Sennheiser 650 recable sound pretty good. The sound improved in all areas. I still would like a larger stoundstage but as a closed phone they are very respectable now. I also like the feel of the Sennheiser cable. I don't think the gauge is any greater but the double ground return and higher quality makes a difference.

yeah the HD650 cables are pretty decent. I used them on my HD25s for a while and it made a very nice difference. Although after listening to the 780s I couldn't go back to the HD25s (due to the HD25s lack of relative detail and bass extension) and sold them.

But that cable doesn't darken the sound?. In other words it make the treble senneiser 650 type (well not such extreme ) , but it kill the liveliness to the treble (my thoughts...)... ?
