Up for ***SOLD*** is my beloved Marantz 2238 with matching walnut case. This unit has recently been tuned up and calibrated and is in tip-top condition. Everything works as they should (of course). The sound out of the speaker terminals is the legendary vintage Marantz sound, warm and detailed, 38 Marantz watts, perfect for a listening room. The phono-stage is excellent and is worth getting the unit on its own right, the FM reception is amazing too and I found radio stations I never even knew existed! The headphone out is also wonderful even by modern standards (a bit on the warm side, great synergy with my Grados). This thing glows so pretty at night with its brushed aluminum and seductive blue lights, they don't make 'em like this anymore. I hate to let it go but I'm parting out my speaker rig to fund a major headphone amp upgrade.
Please note a chip on the upper back corner of the walnut case (see pic 3).
For the collectors out there, this unit comes with original power cords and all the original feet. The transistors are also original Marantz transistors. The walnut cabinet model is WC-22.
