A resounding x2, to what PatABurd said!

wrt amps: if you can swing $250-300 for an RSA Tomahawk - I think you will love the synergy with SR325i's, as well as the Tomahawk's tiny footprint and insane battery life, and build quality.
If you have budget constraints: I did listen to the 325i's through a friend's $99 MSRP Headroom Total Airhead (not known as a killer amp - to be gentle). Sounded better than iPod headphone jack output, but, I'd give serious consideration saving for a Tomahawk (or possibly a Hornet) for mobile use.
Lots of people rave about 325i synergy with tube amps - haven't yet had that pleasure.

Please keep us posted.

I really like my 325is paired with my e-mu 0404 amp/dac combo. It really smooths things out while still providing a clean sound. The amp does its job without coloring the sound. If you want later, you can add a tube or SS amp to the chain. Right now I've got an RA-1 connected to my E-MU 0404 and I really like the sound. You can find them for around $150 at Guitar Center.

Hmm yeah thats interesting but I just built this pc several months ago and didn't want to replace the SC I just put in Everything points to just splurging and getting the Tomahawk. I was fine w/ the SR225s (no amp) until the problem with the left diaphragm started (which is still covered under the warranty) but now I'm being hit w/ upgraditis again.

I can pick the 325is up locally but I suppose I have to wait till I can afford the amp. The bills come first though

Alessandro MS-2 vers.Grado325i

Hi all,

in my opinion the MS-2 is the best !

i had a pair of sr325i a while ago but i had to let them go because the sound was way too harsh and forward.
i eventually moved onto senn hd650. i liked it in the beginning but the love gradually died because of the darkness of the sound.
from what i've read on many ms2 threads, it sounded like ms2 were smoother version of sr325i, and i decided to give them a try.
order placed on tuesday.
i'll be receiving ms2 and pico next week. WEEEEEEEEH!!!!

With a compatible amp, the 325i's highs can sound transparent and even silky. Speed and extended, detailed highs are what make the 325i what they are. : )

I am bumping this fabulous thread. I'm rediscovering how great the 325is are also and want to know if the ms2i has more of a resemblance to something like an hf2 in tonality more than it sounds like the 325i.

Sorry to revive and all, but I'm trying to decide on the 325's or the MS-2's.
I'm just afraid that the 325's will be a bit to bright for my liking. Having that been said, I'm a bit concerned that the MS-2's won't have the same bass impact as the 325's. Any suggestions either way? Since both are made by Grado I'm tending to lean more towards the MS-2's for their increased soundstage, more rolled off Trebles while still mantaining the Grado signature sound, of which I love. Any other things I should take into consideration?

Ive read that the latest ms2 has a richer bass performance than before so you might want to look into those.
