BTW D1000 is a nice choice. That will be my next purchase if I dont get atrios.
I suppose it's obvious that less clamping would make them somewhat more tolerable, but I don't really consider the supraaural fit to be comfortable by definition. For true "comfort," I'd be looking for a circumaural fit... but I suppose that's really just an opinion.

As much as I loved the fit of my Bose Triports, the K81DJ's sound way better, and are more suitable for DJ'ing. I never wear the K81DJ's for very long at a time, thus I don't mind the fit.

Hello, maybe I should have started my own thread, but I'm going to give here a go.

I'm looking for a sub $100 pair, and really like the sound of the K81 DJs, but I want to be 100% percent sure it's the way to go. I'll be using these at school, and I don't really mind about portability too much as long they look good. seems like a really nice bonus for this pair though. my head is of the smaller type so I guess size wouldn't be so much an issue.

I've been using a red pair of these http://www.lojadoipod.com.br/images/...MDR-EX90SL.jpg for a long time now, and thinking about upgrading. I'm hoping on-ear phones of around the same pricing (got them for around $50) would give me better quality sound. Also think they'd look a lot more rad, the sony ones look a little dumb. I really like the retro looks of the new AKGs, but i can't afford to spend that much.

I really enjoy the sound quality of my sony pair (not sure of the model sorry, got them in akihabara in japan and I don't see them in the US), so anything better than that will suit my needs. some sound isolation would be nice as i'll be using these in class and in libraries.

sorry for sounding like a complete newb, I just got into this world.

also, i really like the look and what i hear about the K 518 Djs, but would cost about 20 or 30 dollars more (unless someone knows a great store) here in california of US. If i'm going to spend that much more, is there a better pair i might as well get?

I really appreciate your help, I think I'll stick around here for a while
