PK1 sounds good FOR EARBUD, or sounds really good? - Page 2

Hows the fit of the PK1? I have relatively small ears and ear canal. So would it be comfortable enough for me?

If the PK2's are exactly the same size as PK1's, then they should fit fine. I have small ears as well and the PK2's fit very comfortably.

Are they comparable with Triple fi or UE11? I read someone saying they share the same sound signature as UE11.

I am assuming since they sound "better" than sr-80's they have it all over the PX100. Can someone tell me where the PK1 sound better than the PX100's?

I've never listened to Pk1s, but I had a dream last night where I was listening to them and absolutely loved them. And then a truck ran over them. I have weird dreams.

I can't agree that the PK1s are a better option than the SR-80s. After reading that post, I did a little A/B listening with the MiniboxE+, and I found the SR-80s more detailed (I have the SR80s modded with the tape around the bowls) and a little more crisp on the high end. Now, I really like the PK1s, but I can't say they crush the SR80s. The Sr80s were my first decent pair of phones, and I still really like them. Yet, due to the comfort of the PK1s, I use them more (and the SQ is very close to the SR80s).

I not only prefer the PK1 to the PX100, but I also prefer the PK2 and the PK3 to the PX100. The PK100 sounds muddy in comparison.

Agree on that front (PK lineup vs. PX 100). In fact, the PK3s really amaze me. To think, I got mine for $25 in a Head-Fi group buy from Head-Direct. We need more of those. Group buys, that is.

The Yuins never sounded quite "right" to me. The percussion section always sound quite mellow/hollow/"bended" out of shape.

Everything else sounded great, if not on the airy side.

The pk1's are darn good against any headphone. I like them better than KSC-35's and any IEM I've ever heard...including customs.

I alternate between them and my RS-1's (depending on listening situation), and they are good enough that I don't feel like I'm missing too much when I need portability. They have excellent detail and a pleasant sound, but what was really a surprise is their bass. There's not a lot of it, but there's enough and it's more tight and impactful than any phone I can think of...besides the RS-1.

The only downside I've ever recognized is that if I hop straight from the RS-1 to the pk1, the sound seems to have a slight nasalness to it...which my brain is able shift gears and process away within a minute or two.

I like this phone so much that I decided to resurrect this topic.

It is not good. It is simply wonderful.

This phone has the best tonal accuracy I've ever heard. It's like listening to a real sound and not produced by headphones. The bass is excellent, the sound slightly warm and very extended highs.

The clarity of these small earphones scares. It's all very transparent and real, with very large and airy soundstage.

Important to say that all these wonderful features are only possible with the perfect fit between the headphones and ears. Because, in contrast, the PK1 will sound with poor bass and to the bright, treble side.

An headphone amplifier, preferably neutral, also helps.

This is the kind of phone you shiver in certain passages and gives you the desire to dance and sing in others.

Cheers,

Peter
