It's my opinion and a pretty realistic statement.
Nothing wrong with being a betatester but obviously some of the early adopters are already tired of flawed batch after flawed batch and are out of it and most lurkers won't invest in a HeAudio unless it's proven that they've finally fixed all problems.Naturally this is kind of a catch 22 situation.

That's true. But it does seem that most members here really want these to be successful, even though there have been some trying times.
Even the second batch of HE-90's had their growing pains.

I guess I'm really lucky to be enjoying mine without any issues.

Hey you’re looking at something with the performance of the un-available HE90’s at the cost of the O2’s. It’ll sell if the company fixes the problems and supports its customers. There’s nothing similar currently available.


I worked for a Microwave Company and we made combiners / isolators etc. They used magnets to bend microwaves. New Products were failing en-mass. It turns out the failed units were shipped in unpressurized cargo containers and the Low Temperatures at altitude during transit degaussed the magnets. It was unusual because parts of a batch would fail on delivery but not the whole batch.

The fix was to ship our units with a Shipper that used pressurized cargo holds.

Purely normal learning / growing pains. If it’s something like that- who would have thought. HeAudio might not have been able to get a pair to fail at the plant. It’s an engineering challenge.

Did you see in the For Sale Forum Ray Samuels was looking for a pair of HE90’s? Electrostatic Amplitude?

And if one takes into account the fact some of us simply don't cotton to O2's sonic signature, there are suddenly very little choices in the current-production 'stats.

After basically continuous audition of EH1.2b, I'm beginning to think it's almost unfair to label it as "HE90 clones" or Stax wanna-be's. EH1.2b has a tremendous sound all its own, one that some may prefer over anything else depending on his tastes.

I hope HE Audio works out its problems and continue to support its customers. I'm not too thrilled about my situation, but purely based on sound quality, I have decided against a refund, even if that means gambling on the (ouch) third pair. If the darn thing didn't sound the way it does, I assure you it would have stopped before the second pair.

But the HE90's were from a multi-million $$ company, the buyers can rest assured whatever the problems are, they will get fixed the right way. Mean while, HeAudio is still in a reputation building stage (as are all Chinese electrostatic headphones).
So, are all 1.2 and 1.3 problem free at this point? if so HE can still fall back to the older design, which is a good thing.

Well, I am still watching, as I would like to buy a pair when all the kinks are worked out. Until then, I have a couple of pairs of STAX SR-5 Gold, a couple of pairs of SR-Lambdas, and a SR-Lambda Signature to play with.

My HEs have arrived.
Packaging was 1st rate.
Fit-n-finish is better than depicted in most photo's I've seen.
30 minute on the head impressions are above average.
Very different from my O2/4070.
I have to let'm burn-in...
The HEs sound good thusfar.

fang told me that they think they have discovered the problem with the 1.2B and plan to make an announcement about it - maybe in this thread. not sure.

this seems like promising news but with all that has happened, i guess i will be fully convinced only when several batches have gone out and no issues/problems are reported.

we'll see. if things get resolved i may jump right back into the He game. but for now, i will continue to sit on the sidelines to see how things play out. a man can only go to the post office so many times.

OMG, you guys have limits on everything over there. My Post Office owner may grimace, roll eyes, frown, smile and provide all sorts of reactions to my frequent visits (receiving and sending) but he's never closed the doors (so far at least ) due to my number of visits LOL.

The little HeAudio name plate on the case that the headphones came in fell off. Funny I haven't touched the case since they arrived, yet it just sort of popped off.

That's the straw, I'll be calling Headdirect in the morning and asking for a refund. The headphones are performing flawlessly (After about 100 hours).

I won't stand for poorly badged cases, back they go!


Hmmmm, maybe not.
