I prefer the Jade, although the SR-404LE are my favorite Lambda model. The Jade have more defined bass with just as good impact, rich vibrant mids like the 404LE, but more sparkly present highs while the 404LE highs seem a little recessed like the O2 highs.

These various problems were one of the reasons for posting my question in this thread. I want to know if they are fixed and is there a stable product finally.

I think I was one of the last buyers of the Jade and while it was a very fine headphone, at 1500$ I expect a flawless working one. It still had some very small minor issues which might or might not bother you. But its also possible that you recieve a perfectly fine set, with the Jade you cant know for sure.

I guess that is where the 10 year warranty comes in handy, Though the warranty is more usable for US customers than else where.

I like mine J's, if you take care of the phones they are pretty reliable (as least as reliable as my ESP950).

Always drain the bias charge when the phones are not being used, that will help prevent channel inbalance.

No problem with mine and I have used it practically everyday for over a year. Excellent sounding phones just take good care of them as suggested. When not in use I keep mine in its case.

I have a friend who re-terminated his HE60 for Stax, and I think I am going to ask if he can do that for my Jade. I use the Jade exclusively on stax amps, and I'm getting a little tired of the XLR adapter. For a while I was using them in my bedroom with an SRD-7 transformer that was converted to pro bias with a 5-pin XLR jack, but they are so much better with the WES and eXStatA.

When can I send them over to you for that? I'll trade you a modded SRD-7 with pro bias 5-pin XLR for parts and labor.

Hehe, nice try, but I refuse to open the ear cups.
(there will be at least 10" of original cable hanging out of the ear cups, so it won't be a "full" recable).

nvm then, sorry.

I've been enjoying the Jade more since I put HE90 earpads on them. They're so nice and comfy now, and no more of that weird chemical smell!

True, the smell did seem mostly gone after my unit spent some time out on extended loan, but now I've got smooth, comfy velour, pressing lightly and softly caressing and massaging those sensitive areas of skin...

The Stax cable works great too. It's so soft and slinky, sleek, slim and flexible, draping easily and lightly touching... those other sensitive parts of the body.

So now, when the Jade sings to me, cooing cutely and sexily and blowing softly into my ears, I feel good.
