I was freaking out thinking that a problem had developed with my Jades. it sure sounded like some arcing of some type. I was just about ready to call Fang and complain, but I decided to try some extra trouble shooting.

As it turns out the noise is being caused by my SACD players 6922 output tube going bad. Since I have two other DAC's in other systems that also use 6922's I think it's time to find a source for some nice 6922's.

I'm extremely pleased that my Jades are still working flawlessly, and even though I do love my Denon AH-D7000 SE (Siltech Edition)/Phoenix system I'd give my Jade/GES (Siltech Edition) system the nod.

When using the O2's with the GES I definitely need another hour on the dial over my Jades. They sound good but not great.
I feel the same way with the O2's and the KGSS also.

As HeadphoneAddict detailed earlier, the GES can only go so far in giving you the O2 experience.

And although I accept spritzer's assertion that a KGBH, particularly an SE, can improve the HE60s as well as deliver the O2 experience, I'm not likely to afford beyond the GES.

So, yes, I'd have to agree that with the best combo of tubes you can get the O2 to sing on the GES, but it's easier and sometimes much sweeter with the HE60s (in my case, even with their bass limitations - so I'd accept the Jades could also impress on the GES).

Not that I'd part with the O2s - I still hear a good deal of what they can potentially deliver; more so, for me, through my Naim 32.5/250 via SRD7Pro.

BTW, congratulations aRRR - I was tempted to upgrade my Woo via the one you purchased, but I didn't want to be tempted by that Jade socket - I look forward to reading how your new investment works out for you.

Good to hear that. I have a confirmation from Fang that he will ship mine on saturday (paypal eCheck & Chinese national holiday caused a small delay). Already recieved the GES so Im quite eager to recieve the Jades now. Gonna pick up a Dacmagic tomorrow and say thanks head-fi, you made my wallet sore once again.

Yikes, Im curious how the siltech wiring changed your GES amp/Jade combo. What are the most noticable improvements? And are there any downsides at all?

Impressions on the build quality of the GES? Fang will send the Jade this saturday.

BTW, I asked how many Jade owners there are, its about 30. Bit more than I expected.

I'm thinking about selling my maxed GES for the WES which can drive my O2 Mk1 better. If any Jade owners are interested, let me know.

Right now it is perfect for the Jade, so the other option is to just sell the O2 Mk1, but the WES works well with all my phones which I brought to RMAF with me.

As far as the difference my fancy internal wiring makes, it's difficult to say. I don't have a non-siltech GES with Which to compare.

So if someone has a GES with all the upgrades (Except the stepped attenuator) that they would like to loan me for a comparison?

In my admittedly biased opinion I have found that upgrading internal wiring in electronics (Especially those using point to Point wiring) and speakers makes a significant improvement.

If I can find the funds next year my plan is to build external crossovers and rewire my Usher BE20's.

Finally got the Jade, first impression was quite bad.

But the foolish me didnt let the stats/ges warm up first, and lets not forget a decent burn in.

An hour later Im listening with a big smile

Its definitely not a HE60 with more bass, but they have a special kind of magic though


Customs opened it up, grrr...


Box has some nasty scratches on it.


One of the locks also seems to be broken.


The inside is a mess aswell, the foam is loose, that pink silky material is loose. Only the yellow material underneath the silk seems to be intact.


Headphone is almost flawless, but Im not going to nitpick. They're very beautiful and the finish is very good. I was also amazed by how light they are.

Sound keeps getting better. Im really bad at describing sound so Im not going to do that, Im just going to keep on enjoying.
