I'm not sure how the second one held up, but it may have suffered some shipping damage on the way to Iraq. Of course, this is all pure speculation since I haven't heard his 1.2B. I definitely think the impressions made with naamanf's 1.2B are suspect since they are, for the most part, opposite of at least 4 members' impressions (with 4 different 1.2Bs).

Also, I'm sort of confused with your statement, "Oddly, I did like it better than the OII." Didn't you previously say that the 1.2B was not of the same caliber as the O2, ESP950, ... ?

Could be a problem with that set, OR just a diffecence in unit to unit quality, which makes this seem a crap shoot, even at an 85% success rate. In the rush to get units in the field, maybe some are not quite as good as others.

Re: my feelings on the OII - I cannot deny their technical superiority, hence feeling the he1.2b I listened to was lacking. BUT, I disliked the OII sound more now than ever - lifeless, dark, which simply shocked me. It was not a question of OII hype, as I have heard several pairs now on top rate systems with $3k-$6k sources (including a Shanling T3000), so I know what they CAN do.

Simply standing by that I no longer like what I am hearing from the OII, given the amps in play at the moment. Can't help that it says more about me than anything else, but, this puts me at odds with Der Staxen, who all find it so perplexing for someone to even speak ill of OII.

There simply is no almighty headphone.

Have you heard the OII out of a Singlepower ES2?

$30,000+ APL disk player
$50,000+ Singlepower ES2

The OII was spectacular on this setup. I enjoyed it more than the he90.

Ridiculously expensive. Absolutely Incredible.

I really like the OII MKI, but im not too sure about the OII MKII, especially with Spritzers comments on the differences between the two.

But since its kind of hard for me to find a nice used pair of OII MKI's Im very interested in the Jades. Plus who wouldnt be with a new electrostat?

Wow, I never even knew there was such an expensive headphone amp, lol! You can buy 10 BHSEs rather than one ES-2?

I don't have a lot of time to address this at the moment but I have not found namann's 1.2b to be defective. If they are, I can't wait to here the Jade's on Saturday. I will have them with me in Tampa this weekend so there will be a number of people that will have a chance to compare.

You are assuming the Jade make it to Florida on time. See the following thread.

LUCKY DAY! I'M GETTING FREE YUIN OK1s! HEAD-DIRECT FTW!!!! - Page 4 - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio

I sure hope they do get there, crossing fingers. I understand the poster did have to open the package to see if it was his stuff or the "mystery" package that accidentally shipped to him, but we've no idea if he is capable of accomplishing the task of "teenager shipping overnight for the first time".

On another note, once nammanf's HE 1.2b return to him, he lives here in town and we'll try to compare them to my O2 Mk2 ear-pad modded, HE60, ESP950 with PC-OCC cable, SR-Lambda Signature and SR-Lambda.

You should try the O2 Mk2 with a "reflex dot" on the external grill. I am playing around with that today and it makes them less dark, as it reflects some treble back without ruining the transparency. I got the idea from the huge orthodynamics thread, and will try different materials and sizes as I have time. Can't be rushed though. Plus, the Spritzer bass port mod is next...

Does this mean Head-Direct is actually starting to ship the new batch of Jades out?

I wonder who's Jade was sent to that guy. It's odd for Fang to have made that shipping mistake.

Reflex dot isn't such a bad idea. The SR-Omega had them though the main reason would have been to damp the metal grills.

I think it was just a demo sample for the Flroida meet - although it could have been for an individual who is bringing it to the meet. Mistakes sometimes happen, I just really hope it gets there so we can have more feedback on them from everyone at the meet, and so Fang gets more exposure of them out there.

EDIT - Ah, I see another pair will be there anyways.

I will be very looking forward to those Tampa impressions.
Oh my, I just realized that the pair was that mistakenly sent to that guy in Southern California belongs to immtbiker. I remember immtbiker saying his pair would get a free ride to tampa while he and his wife would have to pay the airfare. He may have meant that Fang would send them to Tampa for him, and he'd get it at the meet.

I really hope that guy sends the pair to Tampa in time. We would be losing a wealthhhh of knowledge if he didn't. I'm going to the thread now to bring the topic up again

Let's see what Chicago has to say about them tonight and tomorrow, and next weekend they are getting an all expense paid trip to sunny Tampa, Florida. My wife and I, unfortunately actually have to pay for the airfare and beer and hotel.
Ahhh! I hope it's not immtbikers, and if it does belong to him, I hope it gets to Tampa in time!

Yeah, this is what happens when you try to be a nice guy. Fang was coming home from the Chicagao meet on Sunday night, at the same time that I was driving to Baltimore for a week's worth of work training.
Fang mailed my pair of Jades to Agile_one in Florida so they would be there in time for the meet, but Stamps. com sent them to the person he last sent a package to (glitch). So Fang spent considerable time and money to send me a new pair to Agile_One's house 2 day air from China.

Cluster fop-ah.

So my pair is somewhere in the continental contiguous United States, and Agile_One is receiving a pair, which has zero hours on them, and has no stat amp to burn them in.
So basically, they are going to have a very narrow soundstage and not-so-deep bass (what I have found with pairs with less than 60 hours on them).

The Florida meet impressions are going to be on a cold, sterile pair, unfortunately.

Oh ok, as long as the meet gets a pair, I'm happy! Yay, go Fang!
