(1) Did you establish a separate thread re the other amps, esp. the iBasso D1, or is it the stuff added at the end of the "33" manifesto???

(2) Have you had the time to do any op-rolling on your MiniBox-E+???

(3) On his list Skylab ranked the Go-Vibe 7 (which I own) above the MiniBox-E+ (which I been interested in for a while); You, I believe, feel that the MiniBox-E+ is significantly better than the Go-Vibe 7. So I'm wondering, am I going to be happy/unhappy with the MiniBox-E+??? Your opinion would be helpful; a bite more detail on the E+ vs. the 7 would help. Danka.

Note: BTW you maybe interested in the fact that there is a MiniBox-F available in Asia. I've got to drop Fang a note to see if they have plans to import it.

Best,

Hi Angel, I have not posted any updates to the 33 amp review in quite a while. For example I have not included:

- MiniBox-E+
- Predator
- Pico
- iQube
- ETC.

This for many reasons that do not need to be discussed, except I will say that my ears must be stuffed w/ cotton. IMO the MiniBox-E+ kicks the a ass of most portable amps w/ very few exceptions (LaRocco PRII MkII, Xin Reference, Xin Supermicro IV).

I will be rolling op-amps in the MiniBox-E+ when I have a chance, say in a week or so.

If you send me your mailing address via PM I will ship you my MiniBox-E+ to try. It will take a week or two since currently I have a Graham Slee Voyager out. This way you can compare the MiniBox-E+ to your Go-Vibe 7 and decide which one you prefer. To me there was no contest and the MiniBox-E+ is far better. All I ask is that you keep it only for one week and ship it back insured.

Angel I believe that was the mini box e not the e+ in skylabs rating, I guess the e+ is better. I can tell you it sounds better than a tomahawk (the only other amp I have heard). Mrarroyo you can send me your pico and IQube to audition if you want

The Pico was a loaner just like the iQube.

How about you hosting a mini meet! it would draw from quite a few Head-Fiers in South East Florida.

That actually sounds quite cool, but It would be a hella drive right now ( I'm in OH at the moment) Weather sucks too! I can't wait to see where the mini box e+ and iQube fall in your rankings.

Do remember that we all have different gear, music, and expectations of what sounds good. What may be great for me might suck to someone else and the reverse is also true. So do take impressions and reviews in that context.

As I say all the time: some like chocolate and others vanilla!

True sir, but I agree with you on the mini box e+, and I think if skylab listens to the e+ maybe it will climb up the rankings I also like to buy from vendors that have a good return policy(like fang), that way if the item doesn't live up to your expectations you can return it. I had originaly planned to sell the min box and get my pico when it was ready, but I don't think I could part with it I am either going to get the IQube (I like the idea of aaa batteries) or the pico and let my son use one of the amps.

Anyways, I just like the format of people ranking a bunch of amps even if it is subjective, as it saves a lot of thread searching and you get a general idea about the SQ. I am also interested in the D2 I guess what suprised me about the mini box e+ is the bass and the soundstage, music now sounds "dead" from my touch's HO, also with less hiss with my E530's- good stuff.

Well, I can't speak for Miguel, and need to clearly state that I only listened to the MiniBox E+ and iQube, along with the iBasso P2, mini^3, Voyager, SR-71, LaRocco PRII , the little Millet portable, and others for a couple hour period of time, and I'm suspect of some impressions (not all) formed that quickly even if used in a quiet setting and with my own gear.

I spent the most time with the MiniBox and iQube as they were the favorites of those I don't already own, and for me, the MiniBox was a huge happy surprise. Used HD600s, ATH-ESW9s and the Ultrasone 780s with an imod, and also with a Denon PCDP and a K2HD CD. For my tastes, it was MiniBox > iQube. The iQube had some impressive qualities, but with my headphones and music, the MiniBox was overall the better amp. I specifically liked the pairing with the ESW9s. I sooooo don't need another amp, but I want it. I do.

And thanks to you now I want an ESW9s! I guess we are kind of even, since the ESW9 are twice the cost of the MiniBox-E+

Minibox-G is the latest product in Minibox family. http://www.erji.net/read.php?tid=494...word=minibox-g if you understand Chinese. I think it's about $200 US in China.

Well it sayz MiniBox-G200, so maybe the price is 200 somethings???

Unfortunately, the Google translator croaked!

The little English on the page, has "pr2,predator,toma,sm3,move". Maybe they're comparing the "G" to these units.

Then you have: "yyum2+minibox-G=er4", any guesses?

BTW, there is a MiniBox-F also.

best,

a.

Does anyone here use the SFOR feature, and what is it technically speaking. I kind of like it, but it almost seems to alter the sound a bit too much.

It is kind of an spatial expander, I too like it in some applications. It tends to be either "I can't hear any change" to "way too much". But it is kind of cool to play with it (the amp's SFOR switch that is)

Thanks. Agree, sometimes, it really sounds great. Other times, sounds bad or no effect at all. Hit or miss, I guess.

Well, today I started my op-amp rolling adventure w/ the MiniBox-E+. The first in has been the AD797, why? Because it is the only single op-amp of which I had two available and which according to the specs would not be fried by the 18 volt battery.

Anyways, with a couple of hours of burning in it is a very nice sounding combo. Perhaps a bit deeper and thicker bass and wider soundstage, but I will wait till I put about 50 hours or so before passing judgment.

When I swapped the AD8610 for the AD797 I noticed that my MiniBox-E+ has two 1,500 uF caps in the same place where the MiniBox-E had two 2,200 uF caps. I have sent Fang of Head Direct an email asking why. Meanwhile I have placed an order for a few 2,200 uF caps rated at 10 Volts.

Will keep you posted.
