Behringer HA400 & Sennheiser HD650s

Thread Starter
I currently own a $20 Behringer HA400 headphone amplifier that I use with my Sennheiser HD485s. I would like to upgrade to Sennheiser HD650s, which I understand have a higher impedance than what I am using now (300 ohms vs. 32 ohms). According to the user's manual for my amp, its stats are:

Input impedance: 100,000 ohms
Max. input level: +15 dBu
Output impedance: 80 ohms
Max output level: 40 mW in 100 ohms

I have next to no idea what all of this means. So my question is: is this amp powerful enough to drive the HD650s?

A metal case, you can run 4 headphones. I don't know how they do it. If you are going to buy the HD650's you might want to upgrade the headphone amp as well. I have not heard what you have but sometimes you can extrapolate from past experience what something for the price might sound like but who knows.

okay, I am kinda newbie, so I can't say much, but...
a few days ago, I was investigating the HA400 and the AMP800 and I read about a user who had high impedance AKG headphones, I think these were 600 ohms, and he was not happy with the results

wait....

here it is:

quote: This thing sounds good at lower volume levels. However, if you crank it up a bit for say, a vocal track, it will distort something nasty when the levels get higher even when you are not peaking out. It is even worse with power-hungry headphones like my AKG K240's. This little guy is just plain underpowered.
