A hauntingly familiar phrase....

Boy, am I really liking the SA6. I found the Bass+ and Treble+ combo to be da bomb for me. I first tried just putting on the Bass+ port since I wanted some more bass presence - obviously. But I felt the Bass+ and neutral Treble to be not a good combination at all. It totally wrecked the sound sig for me. But once I put the Treble+ on... oh, yeah! Got added sparkle without any harshness whatsoever. And the bass is nice and defined. Very nice balance. I also put on the large bi-flanges because I could feel the mediums inserting too far. That was the final piece of the puzzle for me.

I did a comparison with my beloved Denon C700s and the SA6 bested them across the board. Not that I was totally surprised by this since these are more than double the price. The biggest difference was in the lower mids. I thought the C700s were wonderful musical sounding earphones... the SA6 almost made them sound empty in direct comparison. Very surprising. Violas sound so full and rich with these!

I don't have any experience with the high-end Shures, Etys, UEs, etc., so I don't know how the others do in this regard but these are the first earphones where I find listening to full orchestra classical music very enjoyable. This is partly due to its breadth of soundstage. I just can't get over how much they don't sound like earphones to me. No, I'm not talking K701 soundstage but stillinall - it is quite impressive whether talking ear or headphone.

And the isolation is terrific.

So far, the SA6s are winners to my ears and definitely worth the price of admission.

Warrior05, so would you say you're happier with these over the Atrios and Denons? Do you feel that they have more bass impact than even the Atrios?

-Cheers, Chris.
(I'm feeling the urge to order some of these.... )

Haven't gotten to comparing them to the Atrios yet, Chris. Maybe later today.

Is there anybody out there who owns SLEEKs and LiveWires? If yes, how do these two compare?

Yar, I was wondering this too!

I find myself interested in these IEMs but remember the bru ha ha when the vibes were first out and then remember the heavy criticism by many after they had been out for awhile and more people had a chance to hear them. I know that after I listened to the Vibes, I found that it was not my cup of tea. Each to his own, and I know that not everybody did not like the Vibes, and many people just love them. but can I ask that everybody who buys the Sleek IEMs post their impressions - keep the reviews coming - especially in comparison to other, better known IEMs? I would love it if the series of reviews confirmed a terrific product.

That has happened with some earphones. When people who more experienced shed the truth on them.

In the Vibes case, there was a good early version that sounded better then there was a change for the worse. So it was a little different in their case. Regardless they were only in the lower end $100 or less arena anyway competing with the SF3/UM1/E2c etc.

The Sleeks are shooting for the 5 Pro/ Atrio/ Denon/ and up to q-Jays arena.

Actually those don't impress me much, other than the q-jays, which are pretty good. I hope the Sleeks do best them.

I haven't heard the IEM's you list but I think the SA6's are shooting higher than those. I have owned Shure E4's and at present own E500's and have a pair of Etymotic ER4P with S adapter on loan. From memory the SA6's better the E4's handily, they're competition is more the E500 level.

Wow, it's great to know that the Sleek can give the big boys a run for their money. Hope it goes a bit to debunk the "more drivers are better" school of thought. Just goes to show a mere single driver earphone can sound very good, indeed, if properly implemented.

Now, if I can only get to order a pair.....

I agree with elnero. The SA6s are shooting higher than those you've listed. Take a look at the price differential alone and that will tell you. As I mentioned, the SA6 bested my Denon C700s across the board but I both expected it and would have been disappointed if it didn't due to their differing price points. I have yet to compare them to my Atrios but I'm expecting the same thing since I find the Atrios on par with the C700s SQ-wise.

My D2 arrived today. I was kind of hesitant to buy one, because I heard it can sound cold and hard (to some ears).
Am I glad I got it though.
The combination of the SA6 and the D2 is amazing.
Talking about synergy: this is it.
Just thought I'd let you know.

Now, back to the music.
