Sleek SA6 - Page 25

A drop of superglue might keep it from worsening?

I bet that will keep it in check and not let it pull further up.

Jason- want to send me a prototype 'audiophile' cable to demo (if you have one)??

Yeah, I suppose I am lucky with the secure snapping in of the plug, but I'm a bit unlucky with the black housing. I wish the connection was as solid as that with my Denon C700 though, man that baby really snaps into place and doesn't budge! Sort of has that solidity of a BMW door closing.

I decided to try out a Cowon Iaudio 7, and found it severely lacking in SQ compared to the Vibez. Sure it plays loud, and can probably drive rather demanding full-sized cans, but the sound is bright yet hollow, narrower soundstage, and overall just too in your face. Not good. I went back to my Vibez and was thinking....'yeah, this is MUCH more my speed'. It has refinement, air, and separation to the instruments where the Cowon just has volume & brightness. Not a good match with the SA6 IMO. Needless to say I am sending the Cowon back asap.
To be honest, I haven't had much time at all with the two together...I sent my original set of SA6s back pretty much as soon as I got them, and my Vibez is currently empty save 1 song. After a day pairing the SA6s with my Rockboxed Sansa e280, though, I must say I'm impressed and actually a bit surprised by the sound quality. Who knew the e200v1 could synergize with something? I'm definitely looking forward to bringing the Vibez back into rotation, though, as it's my favorite headphone source for sure.

Thanks for providing your thoughts on the Iaudio 7 (and, from what I can tell, the Cowon signature) sound...I've long suspected Cowon's attention to brightness isn't for me; it's good to get further evidence.

As for your separating SA6 cable: Do you use the provided case? I wonder if all the winding it entails might be putting undue stress on the connection...In any case, thank goodness for replaceable cables, eh?

CN11 I will have a new cable out to you today. Make sure you PM me your address. Although the SA6 is versatile, I guess our plans of using this as a parachute rip cord will not work

epithetless-
You're welcome about the impressions between the Iaudio 7 and the Vibez. The Vibez is truly in another league in refinement, and matches sooo well with the detail resolution of the SA6.

JasonK-
Thank you so much for your responsiveness, professionalism, and passion for what you do! You guys are truly a model of how to run a company, and how to take care of your customers.

I absolutely agree. Long live Sleek Audio!

Welp, after burning it in for 24 hours, and using it on my way to work, I have to say this is the best investment I have made so far. I went in to Jaben to get a pair of Triple.Fis, and ended up after 2 days to get the Sleek SA6.

I couldn't believe my ears when I was auditioning it against the Shure SE530, Triple.Fis and UM2. There must be something wrong with my ears if the Sleek sounded better to me! Simply put, the synergy between my Samsung YP-P2 player and Sleek SA6 was there. That was the only explanation I could come up with.

Metal music sounded fantastic, the tight bass, the clarity and overall sound quality. I guess sometimes it's better to trust your ears rather than specifications. Saved me a lot of money from spending it on a Triple.Fi!

Actually I never use the case. I just wind the cord around the Vibez... but I'm sure that it is easier on it than the case. The Vibez/SA6 rig then goes into a mesh pocket in a large MP3 player case, which has padding on both front and back sides. So it's protected for sure. I am certain that it is from using the chin slider. It seems that it pulls pretty hard on the cable as you slide it up. This is the beauty of the replaceable cable in action- easy to fix any problems, you're not screwed. I used to listen on the B&O A8 for quite a while (yeah I know, humble beginnings) and I went through 2 returned sets because of the cable sleeve pulling up away from the Y joint.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your ears.

Hi ClieOS. How are the SA6's with the Clix?

Wow, that's some high praise. I love the SA6s too, but never owned/tried anything that cost more. Great to hear. I keep shifting to different treble tubes (set with the bass+), and now am using the treble= and think that might be my favorite with the Zune.

Pretty nice so far. Love it with the Bass+ and Treble+ ports. One thing that does surprise me is the present of soundstage with the Bass+ port. Won't recommend Treble++ since clix2 is already on the bright side (unless you EQ it down). BTW, it respond to clix's EQ very well.

That was my impression earlier in the thread, so if there is something wrong with your ears, then there is with mine as well . The SA6 is the universal IEM to beat.

Well, after that sort of praise, I just made the leap for the SA6. I will be curious to see how they compare to my UM2's (which I have loved). I was going to wait for the Westone 3, but I'll have to have my grandchildren insert them for me by the time they come out in 2040, I imagine.

I have to imagine I'm not the only one who has moments like these:

I wear my SA6 while doing my woodworking because I find they offer terrific isolation and that I can listen to music at safe levels and still be protected from the noise of my power tools. So I've had music playing for a couple of hours. I went upstairs and started gathering bowls and food to feed my pets. I suddenly literally stopped in my tracks and thought, "Good Lord these IEMs sound terrific!" Thanks, Sleek Audio!!!
